The Sheriff gets richer and richer and the poor people get poorer and poorer, until one day Robin Hood and his Merry Men decide to stop him. The Sheriff wants to get rid of them and marry Maid Marion, so he organizes a competition to capture Robin Hood and get a kiss from Maid Marion. Will he get away with it? Main characters and setting WORKSHEET 1 FLASHCARDS Use the flashcards and the information in WORKSHEET 1 to introduce the setting and the main characters in the play. Robin Hood is the hero who takes money from the rich and gives it to the poor. The Sheriff of Nottingham is the greedy tax collector who wants to get richer and richer. He lived in the Sherwood Forest with his followers, the Merry Men. Some of them included Friar Tuck, a real member of the Church and Little John, a friend of Robin s who was actually very tall and strong. The Sheriff of Nottingham was Robin Hood s enemy. He was the tax collector in Nottingham and a greedy man. He was in love with Maid Marion, who came from a rich family. But she was in love with Robin Hood.
