IGCSE Exam Tests reading and writing skills 5 th May 2015 (pm) Core paper = 1 hour 45 minutes Extended paper = 2 hours Students are encouraged to bring 3 different coloured highlighters to this exam and several pens They have a whole bank holiday weekend to revise! There will be an extended revision session held during school hours that morning (details tbc)
Literature Modern Texts Exam Exploring Modern Texts exam - 18th May 2015 An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley or Lord of the Flies by William Golding Students answer one question on each of the two texts that they have studied in lessons. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck or To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Literature Modern Texts Exam Students need to know the two books that they have studied as well as possible. Test your son or daughter on their knowledge! They should revise by: Re-reading the text Watching the film Using GCSE Bitesize to watch videos, make notes and take tests Make mind-maps or create cue cards about the plot, characters and themes Make lists of key quotations (aim to remember a few of these) Put key quotations on post-it notes and stick them around the house! Sitting a past paper (this could be in timed conditions) Marking a completed answer using the markscheme Teaching someone else at home about the texts
Literature Poetry Exam Poetry Across Time exam - 22nd May 2015 A question on one of the fifteen poems in the anthology Moon on the Tides based on the theme of character and voice. A question on an unseen poem.
Literature Modern Texts Exam Students need to know the fifteen poems that they have studied in class and be able to unpick an unseen poem. They should revise by: Re-reading the poems Using the revision guide to make personal revision notes Using GCSE Bitesize to watch videos, make notes and take tests Making mind-maps or creating cue cards about the poems Making min-maps about the similarities and differences between the poems Filling out a WPSLOMP sheet for each poem Sitting a past paper (this could be in timed conditions) Marking a completed answer using the markscheme Using a past paper to unpick an unseen poem Teaching other people at home about the poems
