LEADERS CONVENTION 2015 INFO Oregon Pathfinders ATTENDANCE All adult Pathfinder Staff are encouraged to attend. TLTs (grades 9-12) are invited to attend accompanied by their Club staff. A completed Permission & Medical Consent Form must be on site for each person under 18. Because this weekend is an intensive training weekend and there is no programming for Junior Pathfinders or younger children, it is encouraged that they do not attend. VOLUNTEER STAFF APPROVAL ADULTS All adult attendees (ages 18 and above) are required to be approved as volunteer staff with the Oregon Conference Risk Management office to work with Pathfinders. If a volunteer staff approval has expired (valid for 3 years), or the Oregon Conference Risk Management office has no record of a volunteer staff approval, then the adult must fill out a Volunteer Information Form as part of the on-site registration process. (Applicants will need to provide their social security number.) If the Oregon Conference Risk Management office has no record of a Parental Consent for Minor Volunteer Form, then the parent / legal guardian and minor must fill out a form as part of the on-site registration process. Vintage or favorite Pathfinder clothing FLAG RAISING & LOWERING We will be providing Color Guard training. This is intended for Staff and Teens to get practice making calls and commands. It is expected that everyone will attend all the flag raisings and lowerings at the Flag Poles. INVESTITURE SERVICE An investiture service will be held on Sabbath morning for Master Guide, PLA, or PIA. Please refer to the Investiture Planning page if a staff member from your club is ready to be invested. YEARS OF SERVICE PINS Each year we award service pins to adult staff for the completion of the previous years of service. Please indicate this information on your Individual Sign-up Form. PETS No pets are allowed to be brought to Gladstone Park Conference Center. Please plan accordingly. SAFETY For those camping overnight there are specific cooking requirements that must be followed. Campers must have an up-to-date First-Aid kit on hand. WORKSHOP INFORMATION Friday Pathfinder Power Session Pathfinder Staff Training Certifications Portfolio Reviews This Friday afternoon session will explain how the new certification trainings work. In addition we will hold Portfolio Review break-out sessions for those who took certification courses last year which includes: Basic Staff Training Certification, Secretary/Treasurer Certification, Counselor Jump Start Certification, PLA Certification, and PIA Certification. These break-out review sessions will be hosted as group discussions with staff sharing their portfolios and learning from each other what they accomplished last Pathfinder year. Training Tracks TLT Operations These workshops are intended for Teens and TLTs. TLT Mentors are invited to attend. Basic Staff Training Certification (BST) Those who sign up for this training track are encouraged to attend all workshops in order to complete the Pathfinder Basic Staff Training Certification. Director, Instructor, PF Counselor JumpStart Certification These tracks are designed to provide training for specific staff member responsibilities. Those who sign up for these tracks must already have completed Basic Staff Training. Master Guide (MG) This curriculum takes three years to complete. The twelve workshops for this training track will be offered on a rotation schedule every year of eight workshops at a time. Pathfinder Leadership Certification (PLA) There are no PLA track offered this year. Instead, those who are working on their PLA Certification should take the Director Certification this year. Pathfinder Instructor Certification (PIA) There are no PIA track offered this year. Instead, those who are working on their PIA Certification should take the Instructor Certification this year. Pathfinder TLT Mentor Workshops There are no TLT Mentor track offered this year. INVESTITURE PLANNING MASTER GUIDE List of items the Oregon Pathfinder Office needs to know for planning purposes. 1. A copy of the Master Guide card showing all the requirements initialed and dated. 2. List Investiture Achievement Levels (Friend to Guide) the Candidate has completed. 3. Name, Address, and Church name where candidate is a member 4. Name, Address, and Church name of the Master Guide investing the candidate (Chosen by the Master Guide Candidate) 5. Date, location, and event of planned investiture. By returning the above information the following investiture items will be provided to the Candidate free of charge: 1. Master Guide Scarf 2. Master Guide Slide 3. Master Guide large crest patch for sash 4. Master Guide pocket strip patch for above left pocket 5. Master Guide pin for left pocket 6.
