Lovereading Reader reviews of The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson By Paige Toon Below are the complete reviews, written by Lovereading members. Sarah, age 15 This is the perfect lighthearted beach book. I loved it. 5 out of 5 This was a perfect feel good read; it was light and funny but also had some deeper stuff woven in as well. The hint of romance in this book was very well done and felt real. The heart of the story was about family and we gradually see Jessie's journey upon finding out about this new family. I love Jessie so much, she is so genuine and down to earth. I really enjoyed how she was developed throughout the book and quickly became a character I truly love. I am already counting down the days until the next installment of Jessie's story and I'm sure you will be too. You can read Sarah s blog at: www.everyoneneedsabooknook.blogspot.com Molly Hudson, age 12 Wow! what a fantastic book, couldn't put it down! Perfect holiday book, I devoured it in two days! Jessie Jefferson is my new heroine... I wanted to read this book since mum mentioned how great Paige Toon's adult books are (especially Johnny be Good and Baby be Mine which are the same

characters). I have to say I really enjoyed it, Jessie's mum is killed in a freak accident, she lives with her stepdad having never been told who her real dad is. Not coping well with life Jessie confronts her stepdad and asks who her real dad is only to be completely shocked to be told its none other than huge music superstar Johnny Jefferson (It's like being told Robbie Williams is your dad!). The book then unfolds into most teen girls fantasy of being whisked off to L.A to meet him and his family, along the way meeting the children of the rich and famous (including a hot guy in a band who sings her One Direction songs!). I can't wait for book two out next year... go on read it... you won't regret it! Delilah Acworth, age 14 The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson was one of the easiest things I have read in a long time. The way it is written is so uncomplicated that you don't even have to think about about reading it, you just do. After reading endless story's about war, aliens and riddles it was such a nice feeling just to read a teenage story about a teenage girl going through all of the problems that we all go through, and some, like having a famous dad, that we all wish we could go through. I will be waiting with bated breath for the next instalment so I can sit hopefully by a pool in summer and just sink into the uncomplicated life of this girl who manages to in capture everything we feel in one book. I loved it and I hope Paige Toon writes many more like it. Danielle Shepherd, age 17 I literally read this novel in one sitting. It took me a couple of pages to get into it and to start liking Jessie, but as soon as she was in LA, I was definitely hooked. It was really great to read about Johnny, Meg, Davey and even Christian again. Loved the new characters Jack, Agnes, Libby, Natalie, Tom and of course Jessie. Seeing Johnny as the dad of a teenage girl was really new (obviously), but fit him very well! Paige Toon's books are always too short, every time I wish I could read a little further. It kills me knowing I have to wait at least another year for the second installment. Brilliant work once again. Toon's books always make me want to reread all her other novels instantly. The story itself follows Jessie as she finds out about Johnny being her father and

goes on to meet him and find out more about the world that he lives in. I loved seeing how she starts to slot into his world but also how it gave her more appreciation of what she had left behind with her stepfather in England. I literally cannot wait to find out more in her next book. Lauren Coffman, age 14 I loved this book and highly recommend it. It was exciting and there was so much going on I couldn't put it down! This book kept my attention throughout and I couldn't put it down. The main character, Jessie, is funny and happy despite her Mum's recent death. She is excited to meet her father and it is interesting to see how the relationships between her and her family members evolve. I highly recommend this book for young teenage readers. Despite Jessie's loss this book is fun and exciting. Tahmin Ali, aged 13 Jessie Pickerill s life turns upside down when her mum dies in a freak accident on Jessie s 15th birthday. She then suffers and pushes her loved ones away as she feels her mum took away the knowledge of who Jessie s real dad is. After six months, she s told her dad is Johnny Jefferson, the mega famous rock star. But he s got a family of his own. Jessie s goes to meet them and deals with the typical Hollywood behavior. I really enjoyed reading this book as it was quite realistic and modern. It didn't seem to be completely make-believe and had some regular teenage problems like betrayal, friendship and relationships. This was a really interesting book to read and I can t wait for the sequel! Charlotte Crisp, age 13 I loved the book, from beginning to end. I couldn't stop reading it. The story was great and it slowly pulled me in. I'm really glad I got to read it. The story had it's ups and downs through-out. I loved all the characters, especially Barney; he was my favorite. The story line is creative, I wasn't expecting the twist at all. It was interesting, and written very accurately close to the life of rebel teenager. The only part that I found slightly annoying was the added part with Libby and Amanda, that was quite unnecessary. Overall though, the book was a joy to read. I finished it the

evening I got it! I ll be expecting more good reads from Paige Toon. Rosa Boran, age 14 I really liked this book. I found it really interesting and exciting. I had it finished quickly as i couldn't put it down. The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson is about a girl called Jessie who's mum just passed away. Jessie doesn't know who her dad is until her stepfather tells her. Turns out it's mega rock star Johnny Jefferson. Jessie's world just got a whole lot cooler. This book was terrific. I read it whenever I had the chance even during classes. I was just so interested to see what would happen. I think Toon did a great job writing this and I really can't wait for the sequel. Hannah Glenton Having read two of Paige Toon s previous books ( One Perfect Summer and Pictures of Lily ) and enjoyed them thoroughly, I had no doubt that I d like The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson just as much; I was proven right. At the beginning of the novel we re plunged into the turbulence that is Jessie s life after the loss of her mother and we re taken on the journey of her discovery of who her biological father and in some ways who she, is. The writing is witty and vey true to teenage behaviour by flouting typical teenage waysparticularly those that drive parents mad! The book is also packed with emotion- an unexpected feature on reading the blurb about the LA lifestyle. I think that Paige Toon captured the feel of the situation very well; her depictions of both Johnny and Stu as protective father figures were also very heart-warming. An aspect of Paige Toon s writing that I really love is her referencing characters from her other books; you don t have to have read any of her other books to enjoy them (for example I haven t yet read Johnny Be Good which is the prequel to this) however I enjoyed being able to recognise characters (e.g. Joseph Strike is mentioned; his becoming famous is in One Perfect Summer ). The novel ended in a way that made a sequel inevitable Bring on Spring 2015! In the meantime I ll be catching up on the rest of Paige Toon s undoubtedly impressive novels!

Victoria Sharman I picked this young adult book up one morning just to see what it was like. I was in between books and thought I'd give it a go. I was actually very surprised, I mean you can definitely tell its a book for young adults but I have to say that I enjoyed the easy to read, no nonsense, no guns, no violence, no sex chick lit book.. made me feel 16 again lol. Having said that, even tho it was a good read I'm not sure Octavia would have enjoyed it that much but that's because she is more of factual kinda girl and I mean what happens to Jessie is every girls dream...but not very realistic... I give this 4stars even if it was for a 14 year old not a 42 year old! Lola Bridgeman, age 17 Big, big fans of Jessie Jefferson, this is the perfect teen summer read and does not disappoint! Witty, pacy, and moving I loved it! Most of us dream we are living the wrong life, that we were swapped at birth with a princess' baby, or movie royalty, or even a rock star. But this is reality for Jessie Jefferson who discovers after her mother dies that the dad she never knew is a rock legend. But when you get it all, is it all you ever dreamed it would be? Or were you better off before?
