BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTE Joseph Henry de Mahy Desmontils lived in New Orleans during the late eighteenth century and was probably an agent or trader. SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE Letter (in French) dated 1792 from Orrillard of Nantes, France, to Joseph Henry de Mahy Desmontils in the care of Messrs. Segond, father and son, New Orleans. He gives instructions for a shipment of pelts, goats, indigo, wood for dye, rice, and cotton from New Orleans directly to France.
