2015 2016 Performance Application and Workshop Request Form Thank you for your interest in Universal Orlando Resort s STARS Performance Program. Only fully completed applications will be considered for performances. This includes the signed Performance Guidelines, set list, script, and equipment request. You must also provide a URL or a link to a video of your most recent performance as part of your application. If the uniforms you intend to wear during your Universal Orlando STARS performance do not appear in the video, a color photo which includes your uniform must also be provided. NO JEANS ARE PERMITTED FOR PERFORMANCES AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO.

Performance Guidelines Please read carefully and initial each section. APPROVAL PROCESS All groups must be approved by Universal Orlando Resort for a performance. Please submit a color photo and a DVD or Internet link of your performance in the uniforms to be worn during the performance. Please submit your set list and/or music to be played during your performance. All music must be pre-approved by a Universal Orlando STARS representative prior to your performance. Any music containing profanity or inappropirate innuendoes will not be accepted. Please do not perform any music or wear attire associated with other theme parks. All STARS Performance Application materials must be received by Universal Orlando at least six (6) weeks prior to your requested performance date. Please provide up to four (4) performance dates in order of priority. We will accommodate the first choice date when possible. However, schedules are subject to change due to events and productions in Universal Orlando. Your group may move forward with the approval process ONLY when the photo and video of your group and the music set list have been received and reviewed by a STARS representative. All performances are subject to change or cancellation due to production conflicts, studio operations or inclement weather. Universal Orlando reserves the right to cancel performances at any time if uniforms/costumes or music do not meet the guidelines of the STARS Performance Program or if a group arrives late. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Universal Orlando reserves the right to inspect all purses, backpacks, and other bags/containers upon guests entry into the attractions or at any time during the guests stay for purposes of park security and guest safety. All guests at the attractions are expected to conduct themselves in a mature and respectable manner during their entire stay. Any unsafe or disruptive act including failure to follow posted guidelines at each ride or show may result in dismissal from the attractions without a refund. Please note: there is no vending, no donation solicitation and no self-promotion allowed on Universal Orlando property. The director is responsible for distributing to students/performers all pertinent information to ensure that all performance groups are versed in the policies and procedures of the Universal Orlando STARS Performance Program. Universal Orlando reserves the right to cancel a performance date due to your failure to comply with policies and procedures. PERFORMANCE GROUPS You will receive your group s performance date and other pertinent information once you have submitted your photo, video and music of your performance and it has been reviewed by a STARS representative. Four (4) weeks prior to your performance date, you will receive your performance time and an itinerary. Your group will receive a stage technical chart two (2) weeks prior to your performance date to discuss entertainment needs. ARRIVAL Your group will receive instructions on where to arrive on the day of your performance upon being accepted to perform at Universal Orlando. WARDROBE Weather appropriate attire is recommended. Matching collared shirts and matching slacks are permitted as summer performance attire. All uniforms must be pressed and in good condition. Jeans are prohibited and should not be worn for a STARS performance. T-shirts and shorts MUST be pre-approved. Please do not wear attire associated with other theme parks. CHANGING FACILITIES Your group should be in uniform and ready to perform 30 minutes prior to your performance time. Changing facilities are available for use before/ after your performance. All guests at the attractions are expected to conduct themselves in a mature and respectable manner while using the changing facilities and throughout their entire stay. Multiple bands may be using the changing facility at the same time. It is the responsibility of the director and chaperones to monitor the behavior of the students. Universal reserves the right to decline facility use for any reason including behavior concerns. MANDATORY FORMS You must bring your completed Medical Consent Forms with you to the performance. After your performance, your group leader must bring the Medical Consent Forms to Health Services in either Universal s Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios Florida. PHOTOGRAPHY Universal Orlando is a working television and film production facility. As a result, you may be exposed to confidential areas and events. Please respect that confidentiality and privilege by refraining from taking photos or videos on any recording device including smart phones while backstage. However, you are encouraged to take photos and/or videos during the group s performance anywhere in the park. Failure to comply may result in loss of backlot privileges for the person taking the photograph and/or video. Director s Signature Name of Organization Today s Date

Chaperones and non-performers without park tickets will not be permitted in the parks without the appropriate ticket. Non-Florida groups are required to purchase multi-day Park-to-Park tickets. Groups from within the state of Florida are required to purchase Park-to-Park tickets. PERFORMING GROUP REQUIREMENTS Groups must be a minimum size of 40 including non-performers. All performers must be at college level or below. All performers must be in uniform or in costume as appropriate. Jeans, shorts, and t-shirts are not permitted for performances without prior approval. For marching bands, a summer uniform is acceptable, but all members in the band must wear the same uniform. Provide a link to a performance video including samples of the music you will be performing and the group s uniform on this application or email it to STARS@universalorlando.com. If your group is not in the uniform you plan to wear at Universal, email a color photo of your group in uniform with your video. Please submit a setlist. Space is provided on the last page of the application. Any spoken words, whether by performers or directors, must be submitted as a script in its entirety with the application. Set script is available on the last page of the application. Recognizable character costumes or performances representing such characters or animated films are not permitted. School mascots are permitted only after approval. Stage performances are 30 minutes in length. If you have multiple groups, please reach out to your STARS representative for details. Marching performances are up to 1 mile in length and marching routes vary according to the events in the park during performance times. SOUND DESIGN: MUSIC AND THE ART OF FOLEY Education and entertainment come together like never before. Your band, orchestra or choir students will score an actual movie scene, record sound effects, and experience what it s like to be a working movie musician. Directors will be fully immersed in the experience and will conduct their group. MUSIC WORKSHOP GROUP REQUIREMENTS Groups must meet a minimum size of 40 participants, unless pre-approved. All performers must be at college level or below. Provide a link or a DVD of a performance video on this application or email it to STARS@universalorlando.com. The entire workshop experience will last approximately 90 minutes. Groups will be provided the sheet music prior to their workshop. Groups wishing to sight read may do so at their director s discretion. Directors/Chaperones are not required to purchase the workshop. Chaperones are welcome to observe the workshop, space permitting. All students participating must purchase the workshop. Uniforms/Performance attire is not required. Please do not wear attire associated with The Walt Disney Company. DANCE IS UNIVERSAL! A WORKSHOP WITH THE PROFESSIONALS In this workshop, students will learn what it s like to have a professional career in dance as they work on an original routine choreographed and taught by one of our very own highly trained professional choreographers and performers. DANCE WORKSHOP GROUP REQUIREMENTS Groups must be a minimum size of 20 participants unless pre-approved. All performers must be at college level or below. Provide a link or a DVD of a performance video on this application or email it to STARS@universalorlando.com. The entire workshop experience will last approximately 3 hours. Directors/Chaperones are not required to purchase the workshop. They are welcome to observe the workshop, space permitting. All students participating must purchase the workshop.
