The Music Academy Citta di Palmanova, municipal music school of Bagnaria Arsa, municipal music school of Mossa ( Legatura di Valore member) along with the sponsorship of the Municipalities of Palmanova, Bagnaria Arsa, Mossa and the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia presents: The 6th International Musical Competition Citta di Palmanova which includes: Music Schools Competition PALMANOVA UNESCO CITY The LUCIA FERIGUTTI International Choir Competition From May 7th to 13th 2018 The competition is open to young musicians under 24, enrolled in primary, secondary (lower/upper) schools, secondary (lower/upper) music schools candidates, private music school, conservatories and universities. GENERAL CONDITIONS The 6th International Musical Competition Città di Palmanova for young musicians will take place from 7 to 13 May, 2017 in Palmanova (Udine, ITALY), at the Teatro Gustavo Modena. Auditions will be open to public. 2. The contest is open to young musicians up to 24 years old. Regarding duos and ensembles, the average age of the components must not exceed 24. 3. There will be 2 specific Competitions: SOLOISTS, CHAMBER MUSIC, ORCHESTRAS AND SCHOOL CHOIRS May 7, 8, 9, 10, 11th 2018 PALMANOVA CITTÀ UNESCO Award - (Annex A) CHILDREN S CHOIR AND YOUTH S CHOIR May 12th and 13th 2018 LUCIA FERIGUTTI Choir Award - (Annex B) 1. 4. Applications must be finalised no later than the deadline of Monday, the 9th of April 2018
APPLICATION PROCEDURE 5. The on-line application form (www.concorsomusicalepalmanova.it ) must be submitted no later than the deadline of April 9th, 2017. The application should be submitted along the following documents: - A copy of the ID card or passport (for minors, the copy of the parent s or responsible person s ID card, for groups, orchestras and choirs, only a copy of the manager s ID card); - Payment receipt of the application fee; - Technical sheet (only for groups, orchestras and choirs), downloadable from the competition website, where the positions of the instruments on stage and any technical needs should be indicated. 6. Modifications to the program will be allowed only if communicated to the secretariat at least eight days before the start of the competition. 7. On the day of the audition, candidates must provide the Jury with three copies of the program, one of which in original. The responsibility for any score copies is on the candidates. 8. Candidates are allowed to apply for more than one category. Candidates are also allowed to apply for a higher category, if considered appropriate. 9. Candidates shoud be present at least 60 minutes in advance respect to their category scheduling time. The scheduling will be published on april 16th 2018 on the competition webpage: www.concorsomusicalepalmanova.it 10. The winners of a first prize overall (with scholarship) on previous editions cannot participate in the same category, exceptions made for special prizes and mentions. The reason for payment must be clearly written on the receipt as follows: Concorso Palmanova 7-13 maggio 2018, Surname and Name of the candidate, ensemble, section, category. Under no circumstances will the application be accepted without the payment of the application fee (see fee table in annex A) or in case the required documents are incomplete. School and institutions that require electronic billing shall add VAT (22%) to the total sum. The application fee is non-refundable. 12. The Artistic Direction is entitled not to accept further applications if the total number exceeds the available schedule. Applications will be registered in order of reception. 13. A contribution fee of 30 (for cat. A, B, C) or 50 ( for cat. D, E) will be required to the candidates who need a piano accompanist provided by the Organization. The scores have to be sent in readable PDF format together with the application, not later than May 9th 2018 to the following email address: concorso@accademiamusicalepalmanova.it 11.
JURY 14. The jury will consist of distinguished national and international musicians. Jury members that have or had Educational relationships with candidates in the last two years from the beginning of the competition will abstain from their discussion and valuation. A note will be marked on the Jury report. 15. Jury will make their votes (0 to 100) in secret. Their decisions are final and not subject to appeal. The first prizes may not be awarded if the jury consider not adequate the level of the candidates. Ex-aequo prizes can be awarded. 16. The jury will allow brief comments to the performances after the prize-giving ceremony, as indicated in the schedule AWARD CEREMONY 17. The awards will be given at the end of the day, when all the exhibitions of the corresponding category are completed. 18. Scholarships will be awarded to the highest scoring candidate among first prize overall winners (Annex B is different). 19. The scholarships award ceremony and winner concerts are detailed on the scheduling of every category (see Annex A, B) 20. Scholarship winners are required to exhibit in the final concerts at the Teatro G. Modena in Palmanova, otherwise the prize will be revoked. The Artistic Direction is allowed to grant exceptions in case of major logistical difficulties. 21. Competitors waive all rights for publication, broadcasting and recording of their performances and image. They can not advance any claim or demand towards producers or transmitters. 22. The organization is available to offer hospitality in families to competitors who request it. 23. Personal data given in the application form will be treated in compliance with privacy laws. 24. The Artistic Direction will be responsible for any decision concerning the organization of the Competition which is not specified in the announcement. 25. The participation to the competition implies the approval of the content of the terms and conditions above-mentioned. For any disputes the Italian text will be consulted as a reference.

The scholarship will be assigned to the school that will have cumulated the highest score, obtained summing the four best scores achieved in theirs competing categories (singles, groups, orchestras). A second 500.00 scholarship will be awarded to the private music school, conservatories or universities that will cumulate the highest score, obtained summing the four best scores achieved in theirs competing categories (singles, groups, orchestras). The 500.00 "Palmanova UNESCO City" scholarship will be awarded to the school that will obtain the highest number of prizes from 85/100 upwards among all participating schools.
International Choral Competition for Children and Youth Choirs LUCIA FERIGUTTI ANNEX B The International Choral Competition for Children and Youth Choirs will take place in Italy- Palmanova from 2018 May 12nd until 13rd The Choral competion is open to: - Cat. A Children's choir of both sexes (for children born after 2004 January 1st) - Cat. B Youth's choir of both sexes (for boys and girls born after 1994 January 1st) A tolerance of 10% is permitted. The number of performers of each group must not be less than 15 (not including the conductor and any other eventual instrumentalist). The observance of these limits may be verified before the performance. All participating groups can perform a program with instrumental accompaniment, with the exception of electronic instruments or recorded music. The organization will provide a piano. All the auditions will take place at Teatro Gustavo Modena in Palmanova (UD) Program: The choirs enrolled in Cat. A must present a program including at least 3 songs; at least one of the songs must be performed without any instrumental accompaniment. The choir must also present al least one elaboration of a folk or traditional song from its own country. The overall duration of the performance (including pauses) must not exceed 16 minutes. The choirs enrolled in Cat. A must present a program including at least 3 songs; at least one of the songs must be performed without any instrumental accompaniment (at least 3-part). The choir must also present al least one elaboration of a folk or traditional song from its own country. The overall duration of the performance (including pauses) must not exceed 20 minutes. The jury, composed of the most important personalities of international choral music, will judge the performance of each choir considering both technical quality and interpretation. The choir's conductors will be able to meet the jury Sunday morning 2018 May 13rd The jury's decisions are final. The auditions schedule will be published on April 16 th 2018 Admission to the competition involves a application fee of 100,00 for each group. The jury will announce the winner choirs on May 12 th 2018 at Palmanova, Piazza Grande (in case of bad weather at Teatro Gustavo Modena) at 8.30 p.m. The award ceremony concert will take place in Palmanova, Teatro Gustavo Modena on May 13 th 2018. The award winning choirs and the special prizes winning choirs will participate in the final award ceremony concert. In case of non-attendance, the prize will be revoked. A guided tour of the City of Palmanova will be arranged by the organization for all participant Choirs. To the first five enrolled choirs coming from distant place (more than 150 Km from Palmanova) a reimbursement of trip expenses will be granted (200 ) On Sunday May 13th 2018 the choirs who filled the application form can attend two WORKSHOPS
(one for conductors and one for chorists) with the members of the jury. The workshops will take place at the Teatro Gustavo Modena from 10.30 to 12.30. The admission is free. On Sunday May 13th 2018 the choirs who filled the application form can perform in historical places of Palmanova from 3.30 to 4.30 p.m. (choirs can sing 2 or 3 songs according to the numbers of partecipants). The winning choirs in Cat. B (youth choirs) will perform in the eighteenth-century Church of Santa Maria in Castions delle Mura (birthplace of Lucia Ferigutti) at 4.00 p.m. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the winning choir of Cat. A and B as follows: First prize (from 98 to 100/100): 400,00 Second prize (from 95/100 to 97/100): 250,00 Third prize (from 91/100 to 94/100 ): Certificate Certificate from 80/100 to 90/100 Special prizes: Choral prize LUCIA FERIGUTTI will be awarded to the choir coming from Friuli Venezia Giulia which has the highest total score of the competition.
