Welcome to the instruments of Bernhard Hammig I would like to personally welcome you to the world of Bernhard Hammig Flutes. Although his family has been making musical instruments for over a hundred and fifty years and Bernhard has been making flutes for decades, this catalog might be your first exposure to what we do. From the moment I first auditioned Mr. Hammig s instruments, I knew that not only professional flutists in america would love them, but also the designs would help reinvigorate a discussion of color: what it is, how it is useful, and how best to obtain a varied timbre pallet for both the serious student and the working musician in both solo and group environments. I knew that the US needed a distribution network, and it has been both a fun challenge and honor to work on this project for the past five years. The next step was Mezzo. Our Mezzo line still gives that colorful, special Bernhard Hammig house sound, as well as the freedom to customize the instrument with your choice of headjoints in a variety of materials, just as if you were buying a custom handmade instrument. We also use German tubing in the mezzo, proving that where you source materials matters. I hope are you inspired to audition these fine instruments as I did years ago, and use us as a resource regarding equipment for both you and your students. Sincerely, Owner Bernhard Hammig North America

Affordable Perfection The concept behind Mezzo was simple: make a flute with the same tonal character and flexibility as the Bernhard Hammig Custom instruments, but at a price point for the growing serious flutist. Bringing this idea into reality was much harder: the only way was to use the same headjoint found on Bernhard Hammig s custom instruments, then match it to a body co-designed by Bernhard Hammig and Jason Blank. All flutes come standard with a handmade 94.5% silver headjoint with Magic Crown, a maple wood case, and either a leather or nylon case cover.
