FILM FESTIVAL DU FILM 2013 RULES AND REGULATIONS ELIGIBLITY The festival is open to all emerging Canadian filmmakers. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. You must have been a student attending any formal (university or college) film studies institution or receiving informal training in film studies (production courses, workshops, hands-on experience in media arts production) anywhere in the world as of September 2011 or later. You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction; otherwise, an application must be made by a parent or guardian on your behalf. Submissions that have been broadcast on commercial television are not eligible. This Festival is free to enter. The deadline for submission is May 31, 2013. RULES AND REGULATIONS By submitting your film you grant to Spafax and Air Canada complete rights to reproduce and publicly show throughout the world your film in flight and online (including social media channels), non-exclusive for up to two years. Be sure that your film is appropriate for our audience they are Air Canada passengers of all ages and demograpics, which means we cannot accept adult subject matter such as, but not limited to, graphic violence, excessive swearing, nudity or sexual situations. 1. Films must have been completed as of January 1, 2012, or later. 2. Films must be maximum 15 minutes in length including credits. 3. Films for preview must be received in ONE of the following formats: DVD (2 copies). Preview DVDs will not be returned. Secure Vimeo link. 4. Preview DVDs must be labelled with the title, run time and contact information. DO NOT send film prints, master or other originals with your submission. 5. Secure Vimeo link and password must be included in the box indicated on the submission form. DO NOT send Vimeo links in the body of your email. Please note that ONLY Vimeo links are accepted at this time. Please do not send digital submissions via download or alternate streaming formats. The video should be set as Private and a password set-up in order to view the secure video. This is the password we require you to provide on the submission form. 6. After selection, only the entrants with nominated films will be contacted. 7. The Festival will not accept collect shipments and assumes no responsibility for loss of or damage to materials. 8. Foreign-language films must be accompanied by either English or French subtitles. 1
9. A separate entry form must be submitted for each film. 10. Illegible or incomplete entry forms will not be accepted. Please type entry form or print clearly. 11. Submission forms that include Vimeo screening links must be emailed to info@enroutefilm.com. Please include the name of your film in the subject line of your email. 12. Submissions may not be withdrawn from the Festival once they have been entered, except at the sole discretion of the Festival Committee. 14. All selected films may be excerpted (up to two minutes) for publicity purposes. 15. Entrants will be notified of the results of the film selection process (please do not phone for results). 16. Any award category may be withdrawn if it does not receive sufficient entries. All entrants in this particular category will be entered into an alternative category if applicable. 17. Air Canada/Spafax may reject any submission for any reason. 18. You must obtain all approvals, including but not limited to copyright, licensing and moral rights, and all waivers and releases. You must have acquired all rights to music, including rights for original score. The Festival does not hold any responsibility in gaining the necessary approvals, waivers or releases. Please see liability info on the entry form. All entrants must sign/ date this form. Unsigned registration forms will not be accepted. 19. Air Canada/Spafax does not have any obligation to show in flight or online the selected entries. Should it do so, Air Canada/Spafax may withdraw the selected entries at any time and for any reason. 20. Use of this information is restricted to the selection of films for the Air Canada enroute Film Festival, the promotion of the Festival, the promotion of Air Canada, its Festival participants and their projects to the public including industry representation such as broadcasters, producers and distributors and through media sources (including broadcast and print materials), the internet and otherwise. Air Canada will not otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties unless required to do so by law. Representations and warranties: The entrant represents and warrants that it has (I) with respect to any submitted film, obtained all clearances, rights, title and interests in and to the intellectual property in the video and print segments including editorial, visual and graphic content, music/audio, scripts, drafts, notes, drawings, raw footage, master videotapes, performances contained therein, trademarks, trade names and other designations; (II) obtained all necessary contracts, agreements, waivers, releases or other forms of permission for all above-itemized elements which may appear in the entrants film or print elements on Air Canada media and for the reproducing and showing by Air Canada/ Spafax of the submitted film in accordance with this Agreement; (III) the submitted film does not and will not violate the intellectual property (including but not limited to copyright and trademark), moral or other rights of any other party; (IV) and that execution of this agreement and the performance by entrant of his/her obligations hereunder does not conflict with any other agreement to which entrant is a party. 8. Liability: The entrant agrees to indemnify Air Canada/enRoute in full against any and all liabilities, damages, proceedings, claims, demands, legal costs and expenses incurred by Air Canada/Spafax arising out of any negligent act or omission on the part of the entrant, its associates, employees and/ or subcontractors and any breach or alleged breach by any of the foregoing of any of the terms of this agreement, including but not limited to the representations and warranties described herein. In case of loss or damage to a film, the obligation of the festival is limited to compensation to the producer of filmmaker for direct losses incurred. The Air Canada enroute Film Festival does not hold any responsibility in obtaining the necessary approvals nor will any of its affiliates be held responsible.
