YHT-30 QUICK-CONNECT GUIDE

YHT-30 QUICK-CONNECT GUIDE INTRODUCTION Yamaha developed the YHT-30 A/V Home Theater package to turn your home into a theater. In addition to enhancing the sound of a video source, like your TV,, or D player, the YHT-30 also superbly reproduces audio sources, such as a player or a cassette deck. This Quick-Connect Guide will help you get started. Study the speaker system plan (below), and then use the interconnect diagrams (on the following pages) to connect the receiver and speakers to your system. For the video portion, you will need a hi-fi stereo or laser disc player and a television or monitor. Refer to the Yamaha R-V902 Owner s Manual, as well as those that came with your other components, for complete instructions and cautions. Be sure to turn off all power while making connections. NOTE: abel the end of each speaker wire (i.e., left rear, right front, etc.) before connecting them to the A/V receiver. For wire runs over 30 feet, use larger 18- or 16-gauge speaker wire. TOOS AND PARTS The YHT-30 Home Theater package consists of (1) R-V902 A/V receiver with (1) RAV120 learning remote control, (1) CS-100 package containing (5) 2-way speakers, 100' of speaker wire, (1) SW3 Powered Subwoofer, and related owner s manuals. You will also need: Wire strippers (optional) Velcro (for secure fastening of a on TV) Toggle bolts, molly anchor screws, or sheet metal screws (for securing speakers to walls) NOTE: If you are unsure of how to securely and safely fasten speakers to a wall, please contact a reliable source about the best type of hanger for your particular wall's construction. Secure installation is the purchaser's responsibility. YHT-30 QUICK-CONNECT GUIDE PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE CONTRO (RAV120) The YHT-30 Home Theater package includes the RAV120 () Remote Control. It includes factory presets to control your R-V902 receiver and most Yamaha audio components (see pages 32 through 42 of the R-V902 Owner s Manual). To control other brands of components (i.e., TV,, etc.), you will need to program the RAV120 to learn the functions of each of your components remote controls. NOTE: The RAV120 can learn and control most major brands of audio and video components with remote control transmitters. For other units, use the original remote control supplied with the product. The shaded areas shown in the illustration on the left have learning capabilities, using data stored in any of three different memories: A is preprogrammed for Yamaha audio components B for video components C for additional components, unique functions, or non-yamaha audio components Unshaded buttons will become control buttons, once the appropriate functions have been programmed into the RAV120. Use the following sections to set up the RAV120 and to program most of the standard and TV functions. Once you have programmed the RAV120, you can close the lid to conveniently access and control most of the functions of your audio and video equipment. HOW TO SET UP THE RAV120 1. oad the supplied batteries into the remote control. 2. Open the lid of the remote control. 3.
