WELCOME Welcome to of the World 2015, the world s greatest singing competition. From 14-21 June 2015, Cardiff will once again be alive with the sound of song as 20 of the finest young voices from around the world compete for the title of BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, and the chance to lift the Cardiff Trophy. Our team has searched around the globe for the best vocal talent, and with three prizes at stake the competition will be intense. The unique opportunity to sing to audiences in our two wonderful venues, St David s Hall and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, as well as thousands more via the BBC s networks, makes this competition a once in a lifetime opportunity for our singers. THE COMPETITION THE SINGERS What makes of the World so magical? of the World is a life-changing experience for 20 young singers from around the globe. Selected from the hundreds that apply, our finalists have the chance to perform in front of a jury of distinguished opera experts. Two world class orchestras BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Thomas Søndergård and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, conducted by Martyn Brabbins. Performances are broadcast across the BBC s output to audiences around the UK and beyond. The jury select five singers to compete in the nail-biting grand final. 20 singers from across the world with two great orchestras. Enjoy these intimate recitals at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and the final at St David s Hall, The National Concert Hall of Wales.
