10 Things You Didn t Know About William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s father held a lot of different jobs, and at one point got paid to drink beer. Shakespeare was eighteen when he married Anne Hathaway in 1582. She was 26 and expecting his baby. SCANDAL! The couple had a baby girl, then had twins, a boy and a girl, in 1584. Shakespeare s parents were probably illiterate, and his children almost certainly were. Nobody knows what Shakespeare did between 1585 and 1592.
