Romeo is texting on his phone and accidently bumps into Juliet, knocking the books out of her hand) Romeo: I pray you, pardon me. (bend down to help Juliet. Makes eye contact with her and is in awe) Romeo: O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this. (back to real life. Approaches Juliet) Romeo: If I profane with my unworthiest hand This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: Juliet: Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this. I'll look to like, if looking liking move Romeo: I hope I get to hold thy hand again, and my lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss. Juliet: Stay but a little, I will come again. (Look at each other longingly. Juliet exits to side to meet Tybalt who is glaring at Romeo. Romeo continues and bumps into Ashley) Ashley: I pray, sir, can you read Romeo: Stay, fellow; I can read. (looks at invite, smiles widely) A party? Ashley: Aye! (Walk off talking about the party) (off to side Tybalt talks to Juliet) Tybalt: A villain that is hither come in spite. To strike him dead, I hold it not a sin.
Juliet: (frustrated) Oh Tybalt, you are too serious. Come hither, nurse. What is yond gentleman? Tybalt: 'Tis he, that villain Romeo Nurse: His face be better than any man s, yet his leg excels all men s. He is not the flower of courtesy, but I ll warrant him, as gentle as a lamb. Juliet: O Romeo(as if she is talking to him) You are too hot (fake swoons)i am for you.(giggles( Nurse: I tell you, he that can lay hold of her Tybalt: Peace, you mumbling fool! hold your tongue, Good prudence; smatter with your gossips, go. Nurse: May not one speak? Juliet: Speak not, reply not, do not answer me Tybalt: It shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate Juliet: A whining mammet, it makes me mad (stalks off angrily) Tybalt: (to audience) Patience perforce with wilful choler meeting. I will withdraw: but this intrusion shall, now seeming sweet convert to bitter gall.. And, if we meet, we shall not scape a brawl; For now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring. (END SCENE) SCENE 2: PARTY SCENE (Juliet and Nurse enter ) Juliet: O, it is my love. Retain that dear perfection which he owes. Nurse: now comes the wanton blood up in your cheeks. Juliet: Leave me, and do the thing I bid thee do. Go talk to him! (Juliet giggles and walks away. Nurse approaches Romeo.)
Juliet: I hope she doesn t say anything too shameful (Nurse and Romeo start chatting it up) Nurse: God ye good morrow, gentlemen. sir; my mistress is the Well, sweetest lady Romeo: Spakest thou of Juliet? Commend me to thy lady and mistress. I protest unto thee,-- Nurse: Good heart, and i faith I will tell her as much: Lord, Lord, she will be a joyful woman Romeo: What wilt thou tell her, nurse? thou dost not mark me. Nurse: I will tell her, sir, that you do protest: which as I take it, is a gentlemanlike offer Nurse: (turns and winks at audience, scene pauses) O, he's a lovely gentleman! (Turns back to Romeo) See where she comes from shrift with merry look. Romeo: He that is strucken blind cannot forget The precious treasure of his eyesight lost. (nurse rettuns to juliet who has been watching anxiously) Juliet: come, I pray thee, speak; good, good nurse, speak Nurse:Your love says, like an honest gentleman, and a courteous, and a kind, and a handsome one Juliet: tell me, what says my love? Nurse: Blind is his love and best befits the dark. But, he does love thee Juliet: you think so? Nurse: Who ever would have thought it? Romeo! (both laugh (Nurse and Juliet continue talking as Tybalt watches, snarls, walks to center stage Tybalt: I hate the word! (mutters under breath Romeo ) You shall find me apt enough to that, sir, an you will give me occasion. Romeo: (hears Tybalt, walks over): I pray you, pardon me Tybalt: Romeo, the hate I bear thee can afford No better term than this,--thou art a villain. (Juliet walks over, notices what is going on)
Juiet: What say you? Tybalt: Thou, wretched boy, that didst consort him here, Shalt him with hence. Romeo: This shall determine that. Tybalt: Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries That thou hast done me; therefore turn and draw. Wilt thou provoke me? then have at thee, boy! (fight ensues. fake slapping and yelling. Juliet gets stuck in between and gets hurt ) Juliet: I am hurt. I was hurt under your arm. Ashley: all men depart! Romeo: In my behalf; my reputation stain'd with Tybalt's slander,--tybalt, that an hour O, sweet Juliet. Juliet: Yet let me weep for such a feeling loss (starts weeping, both men rush over) Ashely: Leave at once! Tybalt: (angrily) To fleer and scorn at our solemnity? Romeo, Hence from Newton thou art banishéd. AH! Juliet: NO! Romeo: Oh, heaven is here where Juliet is! Juliet: O think st thou we shall ever meet again? Romeo: I doubt it not; and all these woes shall serve for sweet discourses in our times to come. (Romeo looks longingly at Juliet. Tybalt stalks off. t Ashley pulls Romeo off) Juliet: and Romeo--banishéd;' That 'banishéd,' that one word 'banishéd,' And needly will be rank'd with other griefs. (falls to the floor) HOW WILL I SURVIVE! (very dramaticly) Nurse: Romeo is banished, and all the world to nothing that he dares ne er come back to challenge you, or if he do, he needs must be by stealth.
Juliet: Speak st thou from thy heart? Nurse: And from my soul too, else beshrew them both Juliet: Amen Nurse: What's this? what's this? Juliet: Well, thou hast comforted mr marvelous much. Nurse: Come, let's away; the strangers all are gone. (both walk off holding hands) Ashley: all are punish'd. (END SCENE)
