Introduction SmartDAB Connects to your smartphone to give Digital Radio in any car. It is a plug and play affordable solution that you can fit yourself in minutes. The station logo, name, song and artist information are displayed on your phone. Digital music is played through your car stereo system via the 3.5 mm jack or FM Modulation. Slideshow images are also displayed if transmitted by the radio station. The device is controlled by the touchscreen of your smartphone, however, we strongly recommend that any setting changes and station selection is done while the car is stationary so as not to distract the driver. SmartDAB package comes with everything you need to get you listening to digital radio in minutes. How to fit - PLUG Remove all the contents from the SmartDAB box Position the antenna in the top right of the front windscreen (top left for right hand drive cars). The antenna should be located parallel to the A-pillar of the car (FIG 1). We recommend that it is held in position with a temporary fix until you confirm that you have a good reception. Plug the cigarette lighter charger into the nearest 12v supply to where you want to locate the Smart box the red light should illuminate. Plug the 3.5mm Jack into the cars aux-in socket. Now plug all 3 devices into the Smart box (FIG 2) USB port available for phone charging.
Getting Started- PLAY Bluetooth Connection When you open the app it will automatically look for and connect with your SmartDAB device. The 1st menu has 4 options as follows; 1) Scan selection of scan will cause the device to scan to see what stations are available to you. A simple progress bar will keep you informed of progress but normally a scan will be quite quick. At the end of the scan your Smart will tell you how many stations were found. 2) Stations A list of stations available to you will be displayed either alphabetically if list mode selected from settings or by ensemble if ensemble mode selected. Selection of ensemble or letter will help you quickly find your desired station. Simply touch your desired station to select it and it will start playing and display in the play screen.
3) Favourites this button stores a list of your favourite stations. You can add or delete items by pressing the icon on your station listings. 4) Settings The settings button allows you to customise your SmartDAB. We recommend that this function is not used whilst driving as it could cause distraction. You can; Select the mode of station display, either ensemble or list mode Display block text or scrolling text Add pictures to display on your play screen Delete pictures to display on your play screen Change the colour of the app to suit your taste FM Modulation The SmartDAB will automatically transmit at 87.5 MHz. Tune the car radio to this frequency. Choose a preset on the car radio and store the SmartDAB frequency to it. To change the Smart- DAB transmit frequency go to the settings menu.
The PLAY Screen The play screen is the screen which will be viewed the majority of the time. It has the following features; 1. Displays the logo of the radio station. 2. Dispalys the station name 3. The genre of music played by the station 4. The ensemble it is on, which will tell you whether it is a national, regional or local station. 5. The signal strength of the station at that point in time 6. Any text transmitted by the station including artist and song title 7. Any slide-show pictures transmitted by the station. 8. Any pictures selected to display in conjunction or in stead of the slideshow images. 9. Touch here to select previous station 10. Touch here to select next station 11.
