As a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency, Angelina travels to many countries to help people in need. Growing Up Angelina Jolie Voight was born on June 4, 1975, in Los Angeles, California. Her parents were actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. John and Marcheline separated before Angelina was one year old. Angelina and her brother James left Los Angeles and moved to Palisades, New York, with their mother. From an early age, Angelina wanted to act. When she was 11 years old, her family moved back to Los Angeles. Angelina enrolled in the Lee Strasburg Theater Institute. At the school, she had her first taste of performing on stage. Her love of acting quickly grew. As a child, Angelina loved to dress up.
