Biblioteca Salaborsa_ features & mission December, 13th 2001 Biblioteca Salaborsa opened Salaborsa is one of the main projects developed by Bologna as European City of Culture 2000 city centre, beautiful historical building, free access, many facilities to join the library and use its services, resource for everyone, special attention on promotion and communication wide range promotion of reading, documentation of contemporary life and local history, intercultural projects June, 24th 2008 reorganize space and service 4

www.bibliotecasalaborsa.it_ what s on enhancing and implementing online services, in order to get to users wherever they are: for example Chiedilo al bibliotecario - Ask a Librarian_ enhancing browsing and managing of the website, making the information retrieval easier and as much accurate as possible metadata were adopted - Dublin Core international help retrieval and selection of the specific item to be found making participation, communication and inclusion easier_ all the contents are online with Creative Commons, except for some specifically marked contents 28

what's on_ our projects to promote reading Nati per Leggere project to promote reading starting from the very early years of life in cooperation with librarians and pediatricians Xanadu community for obstinate readers project based on books, comics, music and cinema for the younger and the school; through an online contest we tried to promote reading and chatting about books from all over Italy the library bibliographies suggestions of reading, listening and vision, guided by the librarians 33
