(D) b Connect the LAN cable to the LAN port. 4 Ensure that the connection between both the MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B and Infiniium MSOS804A Oscilloscope is good as shown below: 5 Launch the Windows Command Prompt and enter ipconfig in the command line to obtain the IP address of the MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B. Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide 11
6 Launch the Keysight Connection Expert and click on the Manual Configuration tab. a b c Key-in the IP address obtained in step 5 in the Hostname or IP Address text box. Click Test This VISA Address. The MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B will appear in the display. Click Accept. 12 Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide
7 Proceed to the Instrument tab to ensure that the MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B has been recognized by the Keysight Connection Expert. The instrument will show with its VISA Address. Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide 13
Step 3: VSA software configuration Step procedure: In this step, you will configure the VSA software to connect to the MSOS804A Oscilloscope and perform the FMCW radar measurement. Before running the software, ensure that all required softwares are properly installed. All hardware such as the MSOS804A Oscilloscope, the MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B, and the M1971E Smart Mixer should be connected correctly and powered on. 1 Launch the 89601B VSA software and connect to the MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B. a Configure the VSA s Hardware in Utilities > Hard ware > Configuration, the Hardware window appears as shown below: 14 Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide
b Add the MSOS804A Oscilloscope (S_SeriesScope) and the MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B (SA_N9020B) in the VSA: Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide 15
c Configure the VSA s Hardware Analyzer to the MXG Analog Signal Analyzer N9020B in Utilities > Hard ware > Analyzer > SA_N9020B: 2 Configure the VSA s Input Channel to External Mixer: 16 Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide
3 Launch the External Mixer panel under Input > External Mixer. The External Mixer panel appears as shown below: Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide 17
4 In the Mixer Paths drop-down list, select Aux Equipment and key-in the Aux IF Frequency (IF center frequency) as shown below: 18 Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide
5 Perform the following steps to generate CAL Data (.cal) from the M1971E Smart Mixer using the EBand_Mixer utility tool: a Go to Help > Examples. Browse to the EBand_Mixer.exe file location [C:\Program Files\Agilent\89600 Software xx.x\89600 VSA Software\Examples\Utilities\E-BandMixer] Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide 19
b Select the following configuration in the E-Band Mixer utility as shown below: - (1) Signal Analyzer: Select Signal Analyzer - (2) Oscilloscope: Select Scope - (3) Calibration File: The file is selected by default. [Path Location: C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\ExternalMixer\CalData] - (4) RF Center: Enter the RF Center value - (5) IF Band wid th: Enter 1.5 GHz - (6) Macro s name: CAL (.cal) file name. [Path Store: C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Agilent\89600B VSA\CalData] - (7) Click Apply. 20 Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide
6 The VSA format s CAL FILE will be generated after step 5. The VSA s Analyzer window will change to the Scope window and the User Correction parameter will be automatically assigned after step 5. The RF Center Frequency, IF Center Frequency, and IF Band wid th values will follow the previous E-Band Mixer Utility user settings. (1) The Spectrum will be set to Inverted and the created CAL file will apply under the IF Filter settings. (2) Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide 21
Section B: FMCW Analysis The output signal from the wideband IF can be used for time domain radar pulse analysis if the 89601B/BN-BHP FMCW Radar Analysis option is installed on the VSA89600 software. Please consult the user help documentation for the instructions and details of how to perform the analysis. The following section will show you briefly and in general how the analysis software is used. Section A shows you how the VSA software is used with the N9020B SA as an LO and the M1971E mixer. By default, the VSA s measurement setup is Vector. Step Action Notes 1 Follow the setup instructions on Section A. 2 Change measurement type to FMCW Analysis. a Activate the analysis. From the MeasSetup menu select Measurement Type & Radar Analysis & FMCW Radar. 22 Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide
Step Action Notes 3 Set the FMCW properties to help the software detect the FMCW regions. a From the MeasSetup menu select FMCW Radar Properties and change the parameters accordingly in the dialog box and respective tabs. 4 Set parameters to detect the FMCW pulses. a In the Reference Synchronization tab, the min Region Time Length has been reduced to 200 ns due to the knowledge that the generated FMCW test has pulse (region) length of 2 ms. b Use other parameters (if required) to help the software detect and synchronize the FMCW regions. Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide 23
Step Action Notes 5 Set time parameters for region analysis. a In the Time tab of the FMCW radar Properties Dialog, set the acquisition length, number of regions to analyze and other parameters as required. 24 Keysight E8740A-040 Start-up Guide
