AUGUST 2013 COAST VILLAGE PROPERTY OWNERS CORPORATION 131 Rhody Loop, Florence, OR 97439 (541) 997-3312 VOLUME 17 ISSUE 8 FROM THE PRESIDENT S CORNER Jodi Hawkins President (541) 603-2599 Robert (Keith) Davidson Vice President (541) 997-7899 Charlotte Frye Secretary (541) 997-1779 Carlla van de Vyver Treasurer (360) 521-8428 Lois Hundtoft Director (406) 697-7339 Ila May Robinson Director (541) 997-2386 Pat Rongey Director (541) 603-5730 BOARD MEETING NEXT SCHEDULED BOARD MEETING MEETING Saturday, October 19, 2013 10 am Clubhouse Lounge Business Office: (541) 997-3312 Available for general business 9 am to noon 1 pm to 3 pm M-F Available for park emergencies 8:00 am to 3:00 pm M-F I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the past Directors, committee members, and volunteers for the time and effort they put into making Coast Village a pleasant place to live and enjoy life. Jody Hawkins our reelected President has taken a medical leave of absence, and I will be acting President for the duration. I m sure all of us wish her a speedy recovery. During the annual meeting enforcement or lack there of, of the CC&Rs was brought up rather vigorously. The Board will be looking into violations covered by our governing documents (CC&Rs and Rules and Regulations) and taking actions to bring properties within Coast Village into compliance. We understand, as it was brought up at the meeting, that we ve been quite lax. We would request that you bear with us as we attempt to get this done. For those of you who in the future receive a letter requesting compliance with the aforementioned documents; please understand your Board is trying to comply with its responsibilities as directed by the membership approved Bylaws. Finally, Coast Village has suffered some recent setbacks with the loss of Directors, Personnel, and committee members. With the new Board elected, personnel hired, and hopefully more people volunteering for committee positions we will be back to full speed very quickly. Maintenance Office: (541) 997-3583 Summer Hours Maintenance staff on premises M - F from 7am 5pm Sat. & Sun from 7am 4pm Thank you for your patience, Available 24/7 for park maintenance emergencies (541) 997-3583 Facility Hours: Summer hours for the clubhouse, laundry room & mailroom Website: www.coastvillageflorence.com FAX line: 541-902-0103 Robert Keith Davidson, Vice President NOTICES are 7am-10pm. Page Two Coast Village Reporter August 2013 ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE NEWS The garage sale is a go! We have only 7 signed up however and would like to see more people join in. The sale will be Saturday, August 17th and we will use the clubhouse and the garden area plus a small area in front of the clubhouse. There will be a meeting the first week of August to assign spots. I will call everyone who has signed up. The new Board has been elected and there will be a social hour mid-august at the clubhouse for anyone who wants to join in we will be arranging a "surprise" local piano player who has volunteered for our evening entertainment. Watch for the posting at the post office and clubhouse for further details. The Activities Committee has stopped Bingo for the time being. Our attendance was down and we think as fall is just around the corner with darker and cooler evenings more will want to wander over to the clubhouse, have a laugh, eat popcorn and win a little money. Hopefully sometime in September. Keep your eyes open for an announcement posted at the usual places. We continue to have a nice turnout for our 4th Saturday pot-luck dinners - thank you to everyone who participates. Please think about joining the Activities Committee. love to have more people. You can find an application at the office. We would A huge thank you to Pat Rongey for making a beautiful basket which was given away by drawing at the Annual Meeting. More fun is in the plans for fall. Submitted by Carlla van de Vyver, Activities Committee Chair MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT The Maintenance department is greeting August with some changes. One of those changes is the hiring of a new employee Chuck, who started July 1 st. He has proven to be a great new part of the team. If you haven t met him yet I encourage you to do so. He s already repaired some fixtures in the women s bathroom, helped with a water leak on Azalea and has replaced the coin drop in the washer that used to eat money. Most of you may have noticed by now we have started picking up garbage using a different route. We re still starting at 9:00 a.m., but because we are doing what we can to become more efficient we now only need to go through park and pick up garbage one time. The first time we tried the new route we were done by noon. We started on Outer Drive because it is more efficient time wise and easier to get the goose neck trailer through the park. From there we went down Easy St. and Nob Hill then to the West side and back to the rest of the East side. Plus we don t go the wrong way on any street, which was pleasantly noted by some homeowners on our route. I also want to remind everyone we do not pick up any discarded building

Page Three Coast Village Reporter August 2013 materials; usually old discarded wood, insulation, wiring, and anything not considered regular house-hold items (Rules and Regulations pg. 10-11, Oct. 2012). If you re not sure what you have is considered building materials, just ask. The other change we are making is our brush pick up. We are making Tuesdays the brush pick up day. Right after the 4 th of July Chuck came in to find broken water balloons in the pool. I have to ask water balloons not be brought to the pool, because the popped water balloons can wreak havoc on the pump system. This can cause the pump to burn out or worse, causing the pool to be shut down until another pump is bought, which is very expensive. A few days later Chuck cleaned peanut shells out of the pool. I need to remind everyone food is not allowed in the pool area. This too can mess up the pump and chemistry in the pool. The state has requirements we must meet on a daily basis concerning the pool chemistry. Food and drink getting mixed in the pool will mess with that chemistry and cause us to have to shut the pool down until the chemistry is back at the state standards. Sometimes that can mean shutting the pool down for a day or two and we don t want to do that, so please no food or drink in the pool area. I also want to say a big thank you to Miss Pat Rongey who I know doesn t want the recognition, but she was a huge help to me and Kathy right before Chuck started in July. RayLynn MINUTES COAST VILLAGE PROPERTY OWNERS CORPORATION ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING JULY 21, 2012 CALL TO ORDER: The 2012 Annual Membership Meeting of the CVPOC was called to order at 10:02 a.m. by Mary McGann, President, who asked John Mawhinney to facilitate the meeting.
