With the ormation o True North Brass in 17, I decided to adat Aubade into a brass quintet, sreading the melody around the grou and making it less o a trumet solo. In doing so Ielt the needto change the name o the ork to Morning Song in order to distinguish it rom the solo trumet versions o the iece. Over the years, it has been described as having a delicately transarent quality and a mood o istul nostalgia, and some have even suggested itis a musicaldeiction o a sunrise on an Ontario lake. Scott Irvine is a Torontobased tuba layer and comoser. While still a student at the University o Toronto, Scott began his erorming career by laying in Dixieland bands and theatre orchestras. In 1, he oined the Canadian Oera Comany Orchestra, a osition he continues to hold today, and he is also a ounding member o the renoned True North Brass. Scotthas layed inthe E lat tuba section o the Hannaord Street Silver Band or many years,and is rincial tuba o the Esrit Orchestra. He is also a irst call musician in the Toronto recording studios, here he has recorded numerous ingles, albums, and ilm scores. O articular note as his orkon Sharon, Lois and Bram's Elehant Sho, here he rovided the musical voice or Elehant Highly committed to music o our time, Scott has commissioned or inluenced orks by a number o Canadian comosers, including Gary Kulesha, Oskar Moraetz, ohn Weinzeig and many others. In 17, Scott began comosition lessons ith Dr. Samuel Dolin at the Royal Conservatory o Music, and since that time has develoed a arallel career as a comoser and arranger. He has received commissioning grants rom the Ontario Arts Council, the Laidla oundation and the CBC, and is an Associate Comoser o the Canadian Music Centre and a member o the Canadian League o Comosers.
