GENERAL INFO ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL - Students are not allowed to audition without completing the online audition application prior to the audition AND printing out and turning in this completed audition contract at the time of the audition. - Auditions will take place on Monday and Tuesday, August 29 th and 30 th directly after school. You will need to sign up for an audition slot on the Theatre bulletin board, just outside the west drama room door. Your audition is not complete until you have finished both your VOCAL AND DANCE auditions. (The dance routine will be taught to you before or after your vocal audition). - Prepare 32 bars of a song from a MUSICAL of your choice. You can prepare a song from High School Musical if you wish. You will need to provide your own accompanist (or a minus track on your phone/ipod) for auditions. Rehearse your song and memorize it before the day of your audition. Your song will serve as your singing AND acting audition, so prepare accordingly. - The callback list will be posted on the Theatre bulletin board the morning of Wednesday, August 31 st or Thursday, Sept. 1 st. - Callbacks will take place on Friday, September 2 nd after school. - Receiving an invitation for callbacks does not guarantee you a role in the musical. Likewise, not being invited to callbacks does not necessarily mean that you won t receive a role in the musical. - The final cast list will be posted on the Timpview Theatre website (www.timpviewtheatre.com) sometime between Saturday, September 3 rd and Monday, September 5 th. - All selected cast members are required to attend our first read/sing through and cast meeting on Tuesday, September 6 th from 2:30-5:00 in the Choir Room. - All selected cast members and a parent/guardian are required to attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, September 6 th at 5:15 p.m. in the choir room. I will try my best to keep it under one hour. - Cast members are required to come ON TIME to all rehearsals that they are scheduled for. Rehearsals will be held Monday-Friday after school (see attached rehearsal schedule for dates and times). There will also be some Saturday rehearsals required. - You won t be scheduled for all rehearsals. I will be respectful of your time. The size and demands of your role will dictate how often you are needed. However, as the performance dates near and we begin running acts of the show, students will be required at every rehearsal. You may not miss rehearsal for any reason 3 weeks before we open the show due to our heavy run-throughs and technical rehearsals. - There is a $15 costume/musical fee to participate in High School Musical (DUE Monday, Sept. 12 th ). On average, the Theatre Department will spend far more than that on each student in the musical. - Performances of High School Musical will take place on Nov. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14. On Saturday, Nov. 14 th, we will have a matinee AND evening performance. November 8 th will be matinee showings for invited elementary schools (DURING THE SCHOOL DAY). - Please email me at jpurdie@provo.edu for more information.
