BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTE Emma Annie Honore was born Sept. 29, 1918 to Marie Cecelia Jarreau and Valmont Honore. Her mother, Marie Cecelia, was born Dec. 20, 1895 to Joseph Jarreau and Leonie LaDoff. Marie Cecelia married Valmont Honore on Dec. 16, 1909 in Lakeland, La. Together the couple had fourteen children; among them were Beatrice, John, Vilmore, Emma Annie, Blanche, Freddie and Melvina. The Honore family was part of the Baton Rouge, La., Creole community. SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE Collection consists of portraits, group photographs and snapshots of Honore family members, including Emma Annie Honore, and unidentified individuals. There is also a family genealogy and handbill advertising the Dew Drop Inn, a popular African American nightclub in New Orleans, La. Page 4 of 6
