with frequently asked questions (FAQ Center) along with details of how to contact us by phone or e-mail. 2 Before you begin The TV module transforms your NAVIGON 8410 into a fully fledged DVB-T television for when you are on a journey. Simply connect the module to the navigation device and you will never miss an important broadcast again! 2.1 Important safety information In your own interest, please read the following notices and safety information carefully before starting up the TV module. Caution! Do not watch any picture shows, videos or television programmes while you are driving! Inform yourself about the regulations in force in the country in which you are travelling. The use of these functions may be generally prohibited during the journey. Caution! Before setting off, slide the antenna together and fold it against the device. This will reduce the risk of injury during emergency braking or in an accident. Note: In many countries you have to pay a fee for using a television. Check whether such a fee is payable for using the TV module. 2.2 Scope of Delivery Please check that the contents are complete. If anything is missing, get in touch immediately with the dealer who sold you the product. The purchased product includes the following: TV module for NAVIGON 8410 Antenna for plugging into the TV module (already plugged in) Before you begin - 5 -
2.3 Connecting the TV module The navigation device is switched off. - or - The START window of the navigation system is open. If an application (Navigation, Phone, Media Player) is open, close it. 1. Plug in the TV module on the left side of the navigation device. (Refer to the illustration.) 2. Switch on the navigation device if necessary. The (TV) button in the START window of the navigation system is now active. Note: The antenna should remain plugged in the TV module at all times. If ever it becomes disconnected, you can plug it back into its socket without difficulty. (Refer to the illustration.) 2.4 Information Various information symbols are located at the top of many windows. - 6 - Before you begin
Energy The Energy symbol can indicate the following states of the integrated battery: The device is being supplied by an external power source. The battery is fully charged. - or - The battery cannot be charged because its temperature is too high or too low. The device is being supplied by an external power source. The battery is being charged. The device is being supplied by its internal battery. The battery charge is sufficient. The device is being supplied by its internal battery. The battery charge is low. Signal Strength The Signal Strength icon indicates the quality of TV reception: The more vertical bars alongside the symbol, the better the reception quality. 3 Starting the TV module You have connected the TV module to the navigation device. The navigation device is switched on. The START window is open. 1. Extend the antenna to its maximum length. 2. Tap on the (TV) button. The following message appears: "Caution! Do not watch any picture shows, videos or television programmes while you are driving! Inform yourself about the regulations in force in the country in which you are travelling. The use of these functions may be generally prohibited during the journey." 3. After you have read and fully understood the message, tap on OK. If you do not accept the content of the message, tap on Cancel in order to close the TV application again. Starting the TV module - 7 -
Starting for the first time When you start the TV module for the first time, the CHANNEL SEARCH window will open. (Refer to "Channel search (Tuning)" on page 11) - or - Tap on Channel search to start the tuning now. Tap on (Back) if you want to carry out the tuning later. The TV window opens. 4 Operating the TV module 4.1 Selecting a channel The TV window is open. The last selected channel is set. Tap on the (Up) or (Down) button in order to set a different channel. The name of the selected channel is shown at the top left edge of the display. The programme of the selected channel is shown on the display. Tap on the TV picture in order to switch to full screen mode. Tap on the TV picture again in order to close full screen mode again. Note: Which programme list you are moving through with the buttons can be seen on the List button: (All TV Channels): All TV programmes found (All Radio Channels): All radio programmes found (Favourites): Only your preferred programmes (refer to "Adding a channel to the Favourites" on page 9, next chapter) Tap on this button to select the alternative setting. Note: You can also select the channel in the ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE (EPG) window. There you can also see the programme list. 4.2 Adjusting the volume In the TV window tap on (Louder) or (Quieter) in order to adjust the volume to your liking. In the TV window tap on (Mute) in order to mute the device. Tapping on this button again will switch the sound back on. 4.3 Adding a channel to the Favourites You can add your preferred channels to the FAVOURITES list. These channels are marked by an asterisk in orange. Proceed as follows: 1. In the TV window tap on (Electronic program guide (EPG)) The ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE (EPG): GENERAL window opens. (Refer to "Electronic program guide (EPG): General" on page 14) 2. Tap on (All TV Channels) or (All Radio Channels). All channels of the selected category are listed in the channels list. 3. Tap on the asterisk alongside the channel you want to add to the FAVOURITES list. The asterisk is now shown in orange. The channel is saved in the FAVOURITES list. Tap again on the asterisk if you want to remove the channel from the FAVOURITES list. The asterisk is then shown in grey. Tap on (Favourites) in order to show the FAVOURITES list. 4.4 Electronic program guide (EPG) Many channels also broadcast an electronic programme guide (EPG). Whether programme information is available, and if so how detailed this information is, depends on the channel in question. As a rule, programme information is available for the next 14 days. No information is provided any longer for programmes after they have been broadcast. 1. In the TV window tap on the Electronic program guide (EPG) button. 2. Select which channels are to be displayed: All TV Channels All Radio Channels Favourites The selected channels are listed on the right-hand side of the window. Under the channel list you will see the date for which the programme guide is shown. 3. Use the (To the Left) and (To the Right) buttons to select the date for which you want to view the programme guide. 4. Tap on the name of the channel whose programme guide you want to see. The programme of the selected channel will be shown underneath the TV picture. If you would like to see detailed information about a certain broadcast: 5. Tap on the (Info) button alongside the name of the broadcast in which you are interested. The ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE (EPG): DETAILS window opens. The programme guide of the selected channel is shown in a list. The current broadcast is highlighted by a border in orange. 6. Tap on the name of the broadcast in which you are interested. The name of the selected broadcast is shown in orange. The information available for this broadcast is displayed underneath the TV picture. 4.5 Showing information about the current broadcast You can have all the information available for the current channel and its current broadcast shown at any time. In the TV window tap on (Info). The INFO window opens. All the available information is displayed. 5 Configuring the TV module Digitales TV module for NAVIGON 8410 You can configure the TV module in the SETTINGS window. 1. Tap on (Settings) The SETTINGS window opens. 5.1 Channel In the SETTINGS window tap on Channel. Channel search (Tuning) Region 1. Tap on Channel search. A progress bar appears. Found channels are listed. Tap on Cancel in order to cancel the tuning and delete the channels found so far. Tap on Stop in order to cancel the tuning but keep the list of channels found so far. Tap on OK when the tuning is completed. The Region setting defines the channel standard on which the tuning is based. As a rule it does not have to be changed. 5.2 General 1. In the SETTINGS window tap on General. Show Select whether you want encrypted programmes to be found as well (All but encrypted, All stations). Aspect ratio Select how you want to display broadcasts with a picture format that does not correspond to the format of the screen (Stretched, Letter box, Cropped). Tap on the (Open List) button alongside the setting which you want to change and select the desired picture format. Configuring the TV module - 11 -
5.3 Ending the configuration You have completed all the configuration tasks. Tap on OK to save your changes. - or - Tap on Reset in order to reset the settings to the standard settings. - or - Tap on (Back) in order to discard the changes you have made. 6 Closing the TV module 1. In the TV window tap on (Close). The START window of the navigation system opens. 2. Slide the antenna together and fold it against the device. 7 The window of the TV module 7.1 The window TV 1 The List button shows the programme list on which channel selection with the (Up) and (Up) buttons is based. (All Radio Channels): All radio programmes found (Favourites): Only your preferred programmes (refer to "Adding a channel to the Favourites" on page 9). Tap on the button to select the next alternative programme list. 2 Indicates the language (for multi-channel sound) 3 Change language (only for channels with multi-channel sound) 4 Louder / Quieter 5 Volume 6 Mute / Unmute 7 Current channel 8 Current time 9 Indicates the battery charge level (refer to "Energy" on page 7) 10 Indicates the signal strength (refer to "Signal Strength" on page 7) 11 Closes the TV module and opens the START window of the navigation system. 12 Opens the INFO window. Here you are provided with information about the current channel and about the current broadcast. (Refer to "Showing information about the current broadcast" on page 10) 13 Opens the SETTINGS window. Here you can configure the TV module. (Refer to "Configuring the TV module" on page 11) 14 Opens the ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE (EPG) window. Here you are provided with a programme guide for the selected channel and information about the individual broadcasts. (Refer to "Electronic program guide (EPG)" on page 9) 15 Indicates the current broadcast in the selected programme. Tap on the TV picture in order to switch to full screen mode. Tap on the TV picture again in order to close full screen mode again. 16 With the (Up) and (Up) buttons you can select the next / previous channel from the current programme list. (Refer to the illustration, point 1) 17 Broadcasting time and title of the current broadcast. 18 Broadcasting time and title of the following broadcast. The window of the TV module - 13 -
7.2 Electronic program guide (EPG): General 1 Programme of the selected channel. 2 Selection of channels in the channel list. All TV Channels All Radio Channels Favourites The button of the current selection has a "pressed" look. 3 Shows the programme guide for the current channel and the selected date. The current broadcast is highlighted by a border in orange. For each broadcast you are shown the broadcasting time and title. You can use the (Up) button and the (Down) button to move through the list. 4 Info button: Shows detailed information about the selected broadcast. (Refer to "Electronic program guide (EPG)" on page 9) 5 Indicates the date for which the programme guide is shown. Using the (To the Left) and (To the Right) buttons you can have the programme guide for another day shown. 6 Favourites: The asterisk on the button is shown in orange if you have added the channel to the FAVOURITES list. 7 Channel list (depending on selection, refer to point 1) The currently selected channel is highlighted by a border in orange. Tap on the title of the broadcast for which you would like to receive more details.
