PROGRAMMABLE INTEGRATOR OC 7171A - I Analogue Input Signals Momentary Display Totalizer Display Free scalable Two Set Point Relay RS232 and RS485 Last Reading Memory Model OC 7171A-I is a programmable instrument for time integration of analogue input signals. The main instrument is a scalable dual counter with a precise frequency to voltage converter in which the analogue signal is transformed into linear proportional frequency spectrum. The generated frequency is selectable for 0-1Hz, 0-10Hz, 0-100Hz and 0-1000Hz for full scale of the input signal. The resulted time integration is very accurate and linear. The display shows selectively the momentary or the totalized results. The selection is with the key UP - cumulated value (Totalizer), DOWN - momentary value. The parameters and the Totalizer display measurement are automatically stored when the power is switched-off. The Totalizer can be reset to zero with the keyboard. A typical scaling application is for e.g. a signal of 4-20mA from a flow transmitter with a momentary flow rate of 0-30 LPM. The momentary display shows the value in LPM, the Totalizer cumulates in kg, pounds, gallons, m 3 or any other required unit. MOMENTANTARY COUNTER (assigned with S in Menu), is a frequency counter with a display scaled in required process units. The frequency of e.g. 0-100Hz which is derived from the analogue input signal can be scaled in practically any required process units. The scale is a 6 digit free programmable number with decimal point and sign. The parameters of the momentary counter are: S-SEt Display offset, selectable from 000000 to 999999 with sign and decimal point. S-SCAL Scaling constant, programmable from 000000 to 999999 with sign and decimal point. S-Ord Resolution of the display. Selection of the decimal point. Measuring Time F base determines the sampling time of the frequency converted from the input analogue signal. F base can be set from 0.3 to 320 sec. Reset Time O base determines how long the counter waits for the input frequency prior the display will set to zero. ObASE can be set from 2.5 to 320 sec. The O base value has to be set at least one step higher than the FbASE. 4
TOTALIZER (assigned with P in the Menu) is a cumulating counter scaled in required units. The scaling can be achieved with multiplication and with division. The multiplication has 6 digit free programmable constant with decimal point and sign. For the division firm decimal constants :1 to :100 000 are available. The parameters of the Totalizer are: P-SEt Display Offset, programmable from 000000 to 999999 with sign and decimal point. P-SCAL Scaling constant programmable from 000000 to 999999 with sign and decimal point. d-scal Dividing constants, selectable from :1 to :100 000 P-Ord Display resolution, setting of the decimal point. MENU PARAMETERS Set - Display offset - has 6 digits with decimal point and sign. The Set can be inserted into the display in order to start incrementing at this value. The Set can be inserted into both counters, P and S. Scaling of the display can be achieved by multiplication and division. The multiplication constant has 6 digits with decimal point and sign. The scaling permits the display to increment in required units, such as mm, inch, LPM, m/sec etc. Averaging Filter has programmable constants from 1 to 99. Order Display resolution settable from C.ddddd to CCCCCC. Reset of the display to Zero with an external positive or negative logic signal, level of which is programmable in the menu step Fn null. Last Reading is automatically stored when the power is switched-off. When the power is switched-on again, the display starts incrementing at the stored value. Password can be set to prevent unauthorized entry into the menu. The menu step StPASS contains 20 combinations which can be select with UP and DOWN keys. If one of them is selected and entered in the menu step PASS, the entry into the menu is available. To protect the menu from unauthorized operation, another password combination has to be used than the one set in the StPASS, and entered it in the menu step PASS. After this the menu can only be opened with the correct password. When an incorrect password is entered, the menu stops and the display changes into the measuring mode. Without the Password only the Set Points SP1 and SP2can be selected and set. 5
1 OPTIONS Two Set Point Relay and two Serial Data Ports can be optionally installed. The optional outputs are generated from the momentary display. The Set Points are open NPN collectors or mechanical relays. The Serial Data Ports are isolated from the input and from the power supply. 2 KEYBOARD The parameters can be set with the keyboard. The Menu contains two Set Points SP1 and SP2 with hystereze, two Scaling constants, Preset, Filter, Sampling Time, Reset Time, Display Resolution, Baud Rate, Address of the Data Port and Password. With the keyboard the Totalizer or the Momentary Display can be selected. When the options SP1, SP2 or Serial Data Ports are not installed, the corresponding steps in the menu are suppressed. MENU ACK UP DOWN SET 3 MENU STEPS The key MENU opens the menu and scrolls it at the display. The required menu step will be confirmed with ACK. The cursor (flashing digit) can be positioned with ACK and adjusted with UP or DOWN. When the flashing digit is moved with ACK outside the display, the sign can be set with UP and the decimal point with DOWN. In the measuring mode the momentary display can be selected with DOWN, the totalizing display with UP. 6

Momentary Display = Input x Scale + SEt The Totalizer has a multiplicative scale P-SCAL and a dividing scale d SCAL. Totalised Display = Input x Scale : dscale + SEt Whereas Input is the frequency derived from the input signal. This frequency can be set with internal jumpers for 0-1Hz, 0-10Hz, 0-100Hz or 0-1000Hz, corresponding to 0 max. input analogue signal. The factory setting is 0-1Hz. 4.1 EXAMPLE Input: With input signal of 4-20mA the momentary display has to be displayed as 0.050-1.000 LPM. The Totalizer has to increment in litres. The input analogue signal 4-20mA is converted into 0-1 Hz (jumper).
