Tides rise and fa about every six hours. The Tide Graph of this watch indicates tida movement based on the Moon s transit over a meridian and the unitida interva. The Tide Graph cacuates and graphicay represents current tide conditions in your Home City or a port city in the vicinity of the Home City based on ongitudes, unar day ength, and unitida interva preset in watch memory, and on high tide times specified by you. Tide Graph The Tide Graph graphicay represents the current tide condition using one of three patterns that represent spring tide, intermediate tide, and neap tide, as shown beow. Press D to togge Power Saving on ( ) and off ( ). The Power Saving indicator is on the dispay in a modes whie Power Saving is turned on. On/Off status Radio-controed Atomic Timekeeping Precautions Strong eectrostatic charge can resut in the wrong time being set. The time caibration signa bounces off the ionosphere. Because of this, such factors as changes in the refectivity of the ionosphere, as we as movement of the ionosphere to higher atitudes due to seasona atmospheric changes or the time of day may change the reception range of the signa and make reception temporariy impossibe. Even if the time caibration signa is received propery, certain conditions can cause the time setting to be off by up to one second. The current time setting in accordance with the time caibration signa takes priority over any time settings you make manuay. The watch is designed to update the date and day of the week automaticay for the period January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2099. Setting of the date by the time caibration signa cannot be performed starting from January 1, 2100. This watch can receive signas that differentiate between eap years and non-eap years. Though this watch is designed to receive both time data (hour, minutes, seconds) and date data (year, month, day), certain signa conditions can imit reception to time data ony. If you are in an area where proper time caibration signa reception is impossibe, the watch keeps the time with the precision noted in Specifications. If you have probems with proper time caibration signa reception or if the time setting is wrong after signa reception, check your current city code, DST (summer time), and auto receive settings. The Home City setting reverts to the initia defaut of TYO (Tokyo) whenever the battery power eve drops to Leve 5 or when you have the rechargeabe battery repaced. If this happens, change the Home City to the setting you want. Transmitters The time caibration signa received by this watch depends on the currenty seected Home City code. When a U.S. time zone is seected, the watch receives the time caibration signa transmitted from the United States (Fort Coins). When a Japanese time zone is seected, the watch receives the time caibration signa transmitted from Japan (Fukushima and Fukuoka/Saga). When a European time zone is seected, the watch receives the time caibration signas transmitted from Germany (Mainfingen) and Engand (Anthorn). When a China time zone is seected, the watch receives the time caibration signas transmitted from China (Shangqiu City). When your Home City is LIS, LON, MAD, PAR, ROM, BER, STO, ATH, MOW (which can receive both the Anthorn and Mainfingen signas), the watch first tries to pick up the signa it ast successfuy received. If that fais, it tries the other signa. For the first receive after you seect your Home City, the watch tries the nearest signa first (Anthorn for LIS, LON, Mainfingen for MAD, PAR, ROM, BER, STO, ATH, and MOW). Auto Return If you do not perform any operation for about two or three minutes whie a setting screen (with a fashing setting) is on the dispay, the watch wi exit the setting screen automaticay. Scroing The B and D are used in various modes and setting screens to scro through data on the dispay. In most cases, hoding down these buttons during a scro operation scros at high speed. Initia Screens When you enter the Word Time Mode or Aarm Mode, the data you were viewing when you ast exited the mode appears first. Word Time The seconds count of the Word Time is synchronized with the seconds count of the Timekeeping Mode. Iumination Precautions The eectro-uminescent pane that provides iumination oses power after very ong use. Iumination may be difficut to see when viewed under direct sunight. The watch may emit an audibe sound whenever the dispay is iuminated. This is due to vibration of the EL pane used for iumination, and does not indicate mafunction. Iumination turns off automaticay whenever an aarm sounds. Frequent use of iumination runs down the battery. Auto ight switch precautions Avoid wearing the watch on the inside of your wrist. Doing so causes the auto ight switch to operate when it is not needed, which shortens battery ife. If you want to wear the watch on the inside of your wrist, turn off the auto ight switch feature. More than 15 degrees too high Iumination may not turn on if the face of the watch is more than 15 degrees above or beow parae. Make sure that the back of your hand is parae to the ground. Iumination turns off after a preset amount of time (1.5 or 3 seconds), even if you keep the watch pointed towards your face. Static eectricity or magnetic force can interfere with proper operation of the auto ight switch. If iumination does not turn on, try moving the watch back to the starting position (parae with the ground) and then tit it back toward you again. If this does not work, drop your arm a the way down so it hangs at your side, and then bring it back up again. Under certain conditions, iumination may not turn on unti about one second after you turn the face of the watch towards you. This does not necessariy indicate mafunction of the auto ight switch. You may notice a very faint cicking sound coming from the watch when it is shaken back and forth. This sound is caused by mechanica operation of the auto ight switch, and does not indicate a probem with the watch.
