Fittings, Sample Size and Development Requirements Fittings DM Fittings are scheduled for specific days and times of each week on a designated fit model for the category and brand. Factory must advise shipping details to appropriate DM Product Development point person to arrange for fitting. Fit comments are shared via Destination Maternity DeSL system along with any pattern attachments showing suggested revisions required for next sample. The Vendor should advise immediately if the fit comments cannot be viewed in the DM DeSL System. The DM Apparel How to Measure Guide is included in each styles tech pack provided to vendors. Vendors who have questions regarding DM measuring methods must reach out to their Technical Designer for clarification ideally at Development Fit Stage. DM Sample Size Requirements All samples for fitting must be submitted in the BASE SIZE of the size range on the purchase order. Development specs will reflect this size range. Destination Maternity BASE SIZES for fitting are as follows: Missy = Medium Missy Numerical Sizing = 8 Missy Numerical Waist Sizing for Denim = 29 PLUS = 2X Petite = Medium Petite, 2X Petite (*For Spec Check only) Long = Medium Long *For Spec Check Only Development Samples (Also referred to as Design or Meeting Samples) MH, APIP, APIP COLLECTION Development Sample Requirements: The following is to be sent to the appropriate PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER S attention: 1 BASE SIZE sample of each style BASE SIZE paper pattern *Adheres to DM Guidelines for sending paper patterns. JESSICA SIMPSON Development Sample Requirements: The following are to be sent directly to the PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER S attention: 2 BASE SIZE samples of each style in all colors/patterns/stripes on order in the correct fabric If the correct fabric is not available, then lab dips, strike offs, and knit downs MUST accompany the samples BASE SIZE paper pattern *Adheres to DM Guidelines for sending paper patterns below: Page 3

Development and Fit Sample Requirements Development samples may be permitted to be used as a 1 st Fit Sample, at the discretion of DM, if they meet the following criteria: Sample is on spec/within tolerance of development specs. Overall styling/design intent meets Tech Pack requirements and Designers expectations without the need to make major styling/construction changes. Sample is properly balanced and has maternity proportions as developed and expected. Fabrication is close enough to bulk fabric (available color/print) to ensure spec changes will be accurate for 2 nd fitting. Sample has minor to moderate amount of fit corrections needed to correct sample and resubmit for 2 nd Fit without additional fit samples needed beyond 2 nd fit. Dependent on the above, the Tech Pack will indicate when a Development Sample is appropriate to be used as a 1 st fit or not. Development Samples are NOT to be included as part of the fit sample T&A. Fit Sample Requirements (1 ST AND 2 ND FIT) Timing / Sample Requirements 1. Fit samples are to be sent to the appropriate TECHNICAL DESIGNER S attention. NOTE: Suppliers must send samples to meet the time & action dates. 2. 1 BASE SIZE sample of each style in WHITE or lightest available color on order. 3. Copy of DM spec graded sheet with technical sketch that includes Factory s fully recorded sample measurements. (Vendor has evaluated the sample measured and deemed it acceptable prior to sending to DM). 4. 1 BASE SIZE paper pattern must be included with the sample (Electronic Patterns are not permitted for Development or Fit approval stages unless specifically requested by Technical Designer). Guidelines / Requirements for Sending Paper Patterns for Development/Fit Samples Patterns must be printed on industry standard white pattern with no missing pattern pieces All patterns must be labeled in English with piece name, size and DM Style number on each piece All Patterns must include shrinkage All Seam allowance must be marked All notches must be included Grain-line must be marked on each piece Do NOT cut out pattern pieces (Leave surrounding blank Paper) 5. Sample must be received by the Technical Designer a minimum of 6 BUSINESS DAYS prior to the Trigger Date. (For time & action planning, factory must allow timing for 2 submits of fit samples unless otherwise agreed upon at time of purchase order placement). Page 4

Development and Fit Sample Requirements Timing / Sample Requirements 6. Fit sample tags must be swift tacked through the wearer s left side seam, DO NOT attach at center back of garment. 7. Sample adheres to tech pack, fit comments and standards. 8. Overall styling is visually appealing and matches design intent. 9. Specs must match the development spec, within tolerance. 10. Sample is properly balanced and has maternity proportions as developed and expected. 11. Weight & Tolerance meet the following Fit Stage requirements: Knit Product Weight Tolerance: May not exceed +/- 5% of the approved weight. Woven Product Weight Tolerance: May not exceed +/- 3% of the approved weight. Tension Tolerance for Sweaters: 0 Tolerance allowed as incorrect tension critically affects fit accuracy. 12. Fabric content must be exactly as ordered and must be noted on the sample tag. 13. Fabric Weight, Finish and Construction must be comparable to bulk fabric. *Vendors must note, on the sample tag, the weight of any substitute fabric. 14. Sample emulates the shrinkage of the actual manufacturing process. Proper shrinkage is built into the pattern to accommodate the agreed upon bulk production dyeing & finishing process piece dyed, tie dyed, garment dyed, etc. (Example: If bulk order is for a garment dye item, vendor may NOT submit a fabric dyed garment for fitting). 15. Plaid and stripe styles must be submitted in comparable plaids or stripes to the production fabric so that proper matching can be advised. 16. Smocked styles, the Smocking must be prepared with the same smocking process that will be used for production. NO hand smocking on fit samples is permitted unless this is the designated process for production. 17. Styles with embellishment, screen-prints, decoration, trim can be submitted without this specialty detailing only if the sample is submitted with a mock-up of the production quality embellishment, screen-print, decoration, trim at first fit stage. *Regardless, the base fabric of the sample, without specialty detailing, must still be comparable to bulk fabric as stated in point 13. 18. Styles with attached necklaces or heavy trim ornamentation should be constructed to be DETACHABLE to ensure reasonable care labeling. Page 5

Development and Fit Sample Requirements Timing /Sample Requirements Continued 19. Engineered or border prints with a specific design effect, all fit samples must be in the same or similar print to demonstrate the understanding of that placement effect. 20. Knit garments as a standard should include clear silicone tape in the shoulder seams for stability. 21. General garment construction regarding seam construction and thread quality must mirror the agreed upon quality for production. Page 6

Pre-Production Fit Sample Requirements Pre-Production (PP) Sample Requirements Destination Maternity DOES NOT require TOP samples for approval to start production. The Pre- Production (PP) Sample is the FINAL sample approved by DM for production. PP submissions should be made from actual bulk production fabric quality/weight/tension in the approved construction and exhibiting bulk trim/decoration/embellishment. PP samples must be made in the production mode, with factory equipment in the same sequence of production operations planned for production. PP samples are not permitted to be made in an independent / out of factory sample room as they are considered an exact representation of bulk production. The following is applicable to all DM Brands: Timing / Sample Requirements 1. Each Initial purchase order requires a PP Sample approval to ship. PP approval is good for 6 months (180 days). All purchase orders shipping past the 6 mos. mark a new PP is mandatory to be submitted to Tech Design for updated approval. *Vendors are required to monitor reorder or flow purchase orders to ensure that a new PP is provided for the first PO after the 6-month expiration date. 2. For styles that have more than one color shipping, the lightest color shipping first should be sent for PP approval to represent all colors shipping. If there is no light color on order, send the color shipping first. 3. In cases where there is a combination of solid, stripe and print colorways shipping together the lightest solid, stripe and print should all be provided for PP approval. (Example: Initial PO Is a Jersey in five colors: 3 solids, 1 print, 1 stripe The lightest solid + the print + the stripe colors should all be submitted for PP approval). Note the following: Only the solid color will be evaluated for PP approval comments. The other colors will be reviewed for any deviation or discrepancy in quality, fit, specifications. If a problem is found, additional comments regarding the issues with the other colors will be included in the PP comments shared in the DeSL system. In Cases where fabric (fiber) is different between colors (Example: 2 fiber Jersey vs. 3 Fiber Heather) one of each in the lightest color must be submitted for PP approval. 4. For styles that are set up to have an initial Test PO with small units and a larger Bulk PO to follow; a PP is required for both the initial Test PO AND the larger Initial Bulk PO that follows. Once these two PP Samples are approved PP approval is good for 6 months. 5. For styles that flow annually with monthly purchase orders that extend into the following year a new PP is required every 6 months AND when the style rolls over to the next year (new tech pack is generated) the first purchase order of the new year will require a new PP approval (even if the last PP approval of the prior year was before the prior year s expiration date this is to ensure year to year roll over of styles is monitored and does not affect product integrity and continuity). Page 7

Pre-Production Fit Sample Requirements Timing / Sample Requirements 6. PP Sample is to be sent to the appropriate TECHNICAL DESIGNER S attention 7. 1 BASE SIZE sample is required unless otherwise instructed by Technical Designer 8. 1 BASE SIZE paper pattern must be included with the sample (Electronic Patterns are not permitted for PP approval stage unless specifically requested by Technical Designer). * Guidelines / Requirements for Sending Paper Patterns for Development Samples is outlined on page 4. 9. Copy of DM spec graded sheet with technical sketch that includes Factory s fully recorded sample measurements. (Vendor has evaluated the sample measured and deemed it acceptable prior to sending to DM). 10. RED PRE-PRO SAMPLE TAG must be swift tacked through the wearer s left side seam, DO NOT attach at center back of garment. 11. Sample must be received by the Technical Designer a minimum of 6 BUSINESS DAYS prior to the Pre-Pro approval date (For time & action planning, purposes the factory must allow timing for 2 submits of PP sample.) 12. Sample must exhibit bulk production trims/components: Brand Main Label & matching Country of Origin/Size label. Price tickets. Hangtags *If applicable to style. Care label with Approved Care Instructions *If care label has NOT been printed in time for PP submittal Standard Care Label can be BLANK for placement only approval in garment. 13. Sample must be folded as it would be for final shipping, packaged in the bulk quality polybag (correct size) with suffocation warning. 14. ALL corrections and specifications were executed as per the Fit Approval Tech pack issued by Technical Design: Sample is on spec/within tolerance of approved specs. Overall styling/design intent is accurate. Sample is properly balanced and has maternity proportions as developed and expected. Sample has only very minor amount of fit corrections needed to approve the Pre-Pro to progress into production without additional concerns or reference PP samples. *Upon approval, all the above must be maintained by Vendor for all colors on order under the same style #. Vendors will be held responsible to control shrinkage between the colors and to meet spec within tolerance for production. Page 8

Pre-Production Fit Sample Requirements Vendors must use the Pre-Pro Sample Tag Artwork exactly as provided below, do not create your own artwork or make any edits to the original artwork provided. *This is the only DM sample tag that is required to be printed in color this tag must be printed on RED CARDSTOCK. *Sample Tag Artwork is accessible from the Forms Download Link, on the Vendor Manual Dashboard, SECTION 6 FORMS.. Page 9

Electronic Pattern Sending Requirements The graded production pattern is required to be sent electronically within 2 weeks of Pre-Pro approval. Vendor will automatically send the Pattern via email to the Tech Designer. The quality of all electronic Pre- Pro patterns submitted to DM must be in excellent condition and checked by an appropriate team member on the vendor side prior to sending. Patterns must have seam allowances and notches, with no missing pattern pieces, and must be sent in the required DXF & RUL file format. Import Pattern Submittal Procedure Specifications Please adhere to the following instructions and procedures when sending a pattern: Must be base size DXF format RUL file attached All pattern pieces must have DMC style number and color number exhibited All pattern pieces are named properly DM can transmit and receive patterns in DXF formatting (.DXF) or Optitex System (.PDS) formatting only. If pattern is converted to.dxf you must specify which format; ASTM, AAMA, or original.dxf. When transmitting the pattern data via email we can only accept 2 forms of data: Optitex Pattern Data: Vendors presently using Optitex Pattern Design System will send a.pds file. The.PDS file will not need to be converted to a.dxf file format. Converted Pattern Data: Vendors presently using other pattern design systems, i.e. Gerber, Lectra, Investronica, Tukatech, Assyst, etc. must use a.dxf conversion program. As of now, the most up to date conversion software for General CAD system conversion is.dxf conversion software, using the ASTM layer formatting. It is generally included with most CAD software systems. Please consult with your software provider for its location in your current software or availability if it is not installed. ASTM includes more information (Layers) that can be converted than if using the older ANSI/AAMA or original DXF formats. UNDERSTANDING FORMATS IS IMPORTANT. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SOFTWARE SUPPLIER IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION ON.DXF FORMATS. CONVERSION IN THE INCORRECT FORMAT CAN CAUSE LOSS OF DATA (GRADING, NOTCH INFORMATION, ETC.) OR CAN EVEN CAUSE THE PATTERN SHAPE TO BE CHANGED WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. Page 10

Electronic Pattern Sending Requirements New DXF Formats Below is an example of the added information included in new ASTM format verses older AAMA format: Important: Gerber Users Do not use the Export Zip in Accumark Explorer. That creates a zip file for Gerber to Gerber email pattern transfers. We use Optitex and cannot convert these file types (the files in the zip file will have a.tmp extension). Please use the Gerber - Pattern Conversion Wizard. It enables conversion to the widelyused DXF format. See Below: Destination Maternity can transmit and receive patterns from.dxf formatting (.dxf) or Optitex System (.pds) formatting only. If a pattern is converted to.dxf you must specify which format; ASTM, AAMA. We have had issues with the original.dxf format altering the shape of patterns by changing the curve point designation to non-curved point so we will only send if there is no other option. You will need to check if this has occurred and notify us before the pattern is used. If we send a pattern to you, we will specify the format. Page 11
