Katja Tähjä MULTI DISCIPLINARY ARTISTIC PROJECTS Since his appointment as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen has pioneered a new way of presenting music to record-breaking audiences. Ground-breaking projects such as City of Dreams: Vienna 1900 1935 and Infernal Dance: Inside the World of Béla Bartók have created a new approach that is unique to the Philharmonia Orchestra and offers a sponsor an exclusive artistic opportunity. Multidisciplinary projects, underpinned and illuminated using online resources, lie at the heart of future plans, and upcoming projects include: City of Light: Paris 1900 1935 In Autumn 2014 the Philharmonia Orchestra will celebrate the music, literature and visual art of 1900 1935 Paris, and will take the project to concert halls in London and Europe.

SEASONS AND SERIES As the Resident Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank the Philharmonia Orchestra s programme of concerts is one of the most recognised in the world. As well as the entire season, specific strands of concerts are linked by theme or daily programme allowing a sponsor or partner to target certain audiences. LONDON AUDIENCE PROFILE: The Philharmonia Orchestra performs on average 40 concerts a season from September June The Royal Festival Hall seats 2,780 people and the usual Philharmonia evening is approximately 85% sold. From research on an average concert day: The average Philharmonia audience is made up of: over 6,000 people visit the hall over 40,000 people walk past the main doors. A high concentration from Central London, predominantly NW and SW postcodes with continued concentration into Greater London along key commuter routes. Over 36% of concert goers are from A01 Global Connections, A02 Cultural Leadership, A03 Corporate Chieftains and over 15% from E29 City Adventurers & E30 New Urban Colonists (Mosaic profiling) 17% listen to sound samples on the net, 14% watch the video clips, 5% purchase MP3s online and 22% are interested in downloading classical music. BBC Radio 4 is the most listened to radio station (32%) followed closely by Classic FM (31%) and BBC Radio 3 (also 31%). The Times is the most popular newspaper among concert-goers with 20% followed by the Daily Telegraph (15%), the Sunday Times (13%), The Guardian (11%) and other papers (11%). Other papers include the Independent (7%), Observer (7%), Evening Standard (7%) and London free papers (7%).
