Shon performing as a Top 7 Finalist on The Trainer 5, Modernine TV Thailand BIO Shon s musical journey begins in Bangkok, Thailand Shon spent his early years growing up in Bangkok, Thailand, and is completely fluent in both English and Thai, although English is his first language. From an early age, Shon expressed an interest in music, and to encourage this, his parents enrolled him in piano lessons, followed later by singing and guitar lessons. At the age of 9, Shon decided that he wanted to try his hand as a street musician (busker), noting that his idol, Justin Bieber, had done just that. One Sunday, while busking at Bangkok s world-famous Chatuchak Weekend Market (the world's largest outdoor market), Shon caught the eye of one of Thailand's greatest rock stars, Rang Rockestra, who was so impressed with Shon s performance that he invited Shon to join him at his studio the following week. After auditioning for Rang and several of his colleagues, Shon was then asked if he would be interested in joining Rockestra s roster of entertainers, an offer he quickly accepted. At only 10 years of age, it was a dream come true, and within days, Shon began a period of intense training under the guidance of Rockestra who was to teach Shon, among other things, the art of the performance - important lessons that Shon would never forget. Within weeks, and while still undergoing his training, Shon began to perform at a variety of venues, including concerts, hotels, shopping centres, clubs, bars and private functions. At 10, and then 11 years of age, Shon was, through hard work and experience, becoming a great performer, learning how to engage and win a crowd. In fact, in 2012, at only 10 years of age, Shon entered the "TVN KPOP Star Hunt 2" singing contest, a Fox International TV production, making it to the Finals (Top 10) in Thailand. Although failing to make the final cut in South Korea, Shon was a clear crowd favourite, and at the direction of Mr. Eddy Tan, Vice President of Programming for Fox International Channels (one of 3 judges on the show), his performances were broadcast throughout Asia on Fox International, bringing Shon a multitude of new fans. The following year, in 2013, at only 11 years of age, Shon then became a TOP 7 Finalist on "The Trainer 5," a televised reality talent show and singing contest broadcast on Modernine TV in Thailand, a country of 70-million people. Later that same year, Shon embarked on an entirely new adventure when his family decided to return to Canada. Within weeks, and in not wanting to lose what he had learned, Shon began to perform at open mics, and in 2014, at only 12 years of age, Shon became a TOP 6 Finalist on YTV Canada's "The Next Star 7." Three years, 3 televised singing competitions, weekly performances at concerts, hotels, clubs, bars and shopping centres... Wow! That's a lot of experience for a 12-year-old! And the journey has only just begun.
2012 - Age 10: TVN KPOP Star Hunt 2 Fox International Channels Similar to American Idol and the X Factor, TVN KPOP Star Hunt 2 was Shon s first entry into the world of reality TV singing contests. The competition had no age limit, with Shon, at 10, competing against performers in their twenties. 2013 - Age 11: The Trainer 5 Modernine TV Thailand The most popular televised singing competition of its kind in Thailand (a country of 70-million people), Shon witnessed his popularity and fan base soar when he succeeded in becoming a TOP 7 Finalist on the show. 2014 - Age 12: The Next Star 7 YTV Canada The Next Star is a Canadian reality television show broadcast on YTV. In 2014, Shon was chosen from over 4,000 contestants across Canada as one of six Finalists to appear on the show throughout the season. Shon at 11 years of age singing It s My Life by Bon Jovi on the set of The Trainer 5 The Future Performing, recording and (hopefully) touring Shon, a multi-instrumentalist and prolific songwriter, will be entering the studio in the near future to record several singles. His songwriting style is that of Pop/ Pop-Rock, with his influences extending to such popular recording artists as One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Sam Smith, Bryan Adams and John Newman. At present, Shon has written more than 20 songs, with each new song demonstrating a growing complexity in its musical and lyrical composition. Now, at 13 years of age, and with strong support from his fast-growing fan base of 100,000+, Shon is looking to break out, having achieved what no other young artist has accomplished, namely, having competed against thousands of other performers - on two continents - to earn a Finalist position on not one, but three televised singing competitions.
