COMPETITIONS... 5 A reference to the sponsor, in the form of a billboard before and/or after the broadcast, points out to viewers that the program is sponsored. If there is a break in the program, a reminder (similar to the billboard) is broadcast before and/or after the commercial break. Caption Billboard length The billboard must make it clear that the program is sponsored. To In accordance with sponsorship agreement reinforce this message, the following caption is included at the top left of the picture: Number of themes The number of themes depends on the broadcast frequency and the Example: duration of the agreement and is determined by the Sponsorship Project Manager. Please check in advance with the respective SRF/Admeira project manager because the form of sponsor reference depends on certain legal conditions. Sponsor dedication Whenever there is a sponsor reference, there must also be a sponsor dedication to create a clear link between the sponsor and the program. The sponsorship relationship must be made transparent to the viewers. The sponsor dedication must be in the language of the channel concerned. Examples: Program name + «sponsored by» Program name + «supported by» Program name + «...with...» Permitted on SRF and RSI: Program name + «brought to you by» Program name + «is presented by» Not permitted on RTS: Program name + «...presented by...» («...présenté par») Not permitted on SRF, RTS, RSI: Program name + «...offered by...» («...offeriert von...» / «...offert par...» / «...offerto da...») The intros and outros need not be identical, but they must always refer to the sponsored program. The exact text of the caption is available as a tga file. Only an edit station may add this file to the billboard. The file can be requested from the SRF Sponsorship Project Manager or be downloaded from the Admeira website (client section). Call in Tomorrow only Last few remaining While stocks last Limited edition Must end this week * obligatory disclosure of rates for value-added service numbers is permitted Legal bases The current BAKOM sponsorship guidelines for radio and TV which are available on www.bakom.ch (see under Themen / Radio & Fernsehen / Werbung und Sponsoring / Werbe- und Sponsoringrichtlinien) form the legal basis for the production of billboards. Special provisions The acoustic and visual design of the billboard must, wherever possible, reflect the corresponding broadcast ident as closely as possible (especially in the case of light entertainment programming). Quality and design As a general rule, technical quality is governed by the EBU recommendations on professional broadcast technology. Depending on where it is to be broadcast, the billboard must be supplied in one of the following formats: HD (High Definition) SRF 1, SRF zwei, RTS Un, RTS Deux, RSI LA 1, RSI LA 2 (SRF info is converted from HD into SD) HD video formats: 1080i /25 (interlaced 50 half frames/sec) HD-compatible production and source formats: HD broadcast cameras with a resolution of at least 720 x 1280 pixels and three image sensors of a minimum size of 1/2», recording at rates of at least 50 Mbit/sec 35 mm and Super35 film Professional HD film cameras (e.g. Arri D20, Genesis, Viper, Varicam, Red) Editing systems such as AVID DNxHD, Final Cut Pro (uncompressed or DVC Pro HD), systems with a minimum bit rate of 50 Mbit/ sec Super16 film, depending on quality decision made on a case-by-case basis! Not classified as HD-compatible: Consumer HD formats (e.g. HDV, AVCHD) 16mm film Cameras with image sensors of less than 1/2», or fewer than three image sensors All Betacam formats: SX, Digibeta, IMX, etc. The sponsor must verify the channel, quality and design before billboard production starts. The sponsor is responsible for the production of the billboard (costs borne by sponsor). Example of a 10-second billboard: Billboards are incorporated into the broadcast schedule for the channel and as a result, unlike conventional TV adverts, are not produced to an exact length. Image The cameras used must have at least three CCD image sensors. EBU recommendation R103-2000 applies to color space tolerances. The key parameters of EBU R218 are: Program loudness (fixed): -23 LUFS. (The dialnorm value in the Dolby meta data must correspond to the program loudness value). Approval of storyboard The sponsor must submit the storyboard incl. dedication for approval before producing the billboard and no later than 6 weeks prior to its first broadcast. Content, design and legal approval by the respective project managers takes up to 10 days. Approval of billboard The sponsor must submit the finished billboard incl. dedication produced on the basis of the approved storyboard as a movie file no later than 2 weeks before the first broadcast. Final approval by the respective project managers (see contacts above) takes up to five days. Approval of broadcast material The broadcast material must be supplied at least 7 working days before the first broadcast. Accepted formats: SRF (preferred) Professional Disc with XDCAM HD 4:2:2 Program loudness tolerance: +/- 1 LU Maximum permitted true peak: - 1 dbtp Loudness range (LRA): ideal 8 to 12 LU, tolerated 2 to 18 LU. For normal TV content, values between 8 and 12 LU have proven best. Highly condensed material may show values as low as 2 LU, while dynamic material may be up to 18 LU and more. However, values exceeding 18 LU are problematic for broadcasting operations and should therefore be avoided. 3. PROMOTIONAL TRAILERS Promotional trailers draw attention to the sponsored program and are broadcast separately, in advance of the program. The sponsor s logo is incorporated in the final still of the trailer, together with the additional note. Promotional trailers are part of the programming. Examples By SRF, RTS, RSI. The costs will be charged to the respective broadcaster. Responsibility for content, editing and design will rest with the broadcasters. SRF For RTS, a sequence from the billboard will be used. 4. COMPETITIONS In addition, sponsors can also appear as prize donors in viewer competitions. Competitions are presented within and as part of programs. Responsibility for approval, concept and production lies with SRF, RTS and RSI. Not all programs are suitable for competitions. Identifier «Prize donor» logo or the brand name of the product or service. Reference to the company name and/or its trademark (logo). Mention of prizes Competition prizes may not be presented in a way that could be construed as advertising. When informing the audience of a competition prize, SRF and RTS will name the sponsor and the nature, brand name and value of the prize. The sponsor will, however, be mentioned in the promotional trailer. In some cases, the prize may be presented or displayed at the beginning of the program or during it. No further statements may be made. Frequency Program-dependent (in accordance with a separate agreement). Schedule and delivery The video material and the logo must be supplied to the respective project manager in the correct quality no later than 4 weeks before the first broadcast of the sponsored program. The following applies to SRF: Only PC-formatted data media/hard drives with USB 2.0 interfaces or data CDs/DVDs will be accepted. Alternative: Upload the data to the FTP server (login details supplied on request). No other servers will be dealt with.
