For Immediate Release: September 8, 2017 Contact: Emma Watt/Mark Lunsford 617.496.8004 program@cluboberon.com OBERON ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER OCTOBER PROGRAMMING Cambridge, MA OBERON, the American Repertory Theater s (A.R.T.) second stage and club theater venue on the fringe of Harvard Square, announces events to be presented at OBERON during September and October including OBERON Presents, A.R.T. Presents, Visiting Artists and Usual Suspects. THE BITTER GAME OBERON Presents September 14 16 Tickets $25 Award-winning director, writer, and performer Keith A. Wallace presents a solo performance in the form of a basketball game, charged with pain, poetry, and laughter about what it means to survive while black in America. After a limited engagement at OBERON, The Bitter Game will play two free, site-specific performances at the Mattapan Teen Center (10 Hazelton St, Mattapan) on Wednesday, September 20 at 7PM and at the Harambee Basketball Court at the Perkins Community Center (155 Talbot Ave, Dorchester Center) on Thursday, September 21 at 6PM. GLOWBERON: JOHN KELLY TIME NO LINE GLOWBERON Presents Thursday, September 21 at 8PM Tickets $25 Time No Line focuses on how we can identify collective histories through the experience of an individual. This new solo performance work integrates movement, song, live drawing, and interactions with projected texts and images as the components of a live dramatic

autobiographical narrative. This work utilizes themes and details of John Kelly s personal history as a survivor of a generation of artists that emerged out of the East Village performance scene of the 1980s and was subsequently decimated by the AIDS pandemic. One of the goals of this work is to focus on and contribute to a rift in the larger cultural and social continuity and dialogue. John Kelly Time No Line is presented as part of GLOWBERON, an acclaimed series that features exceptional storytellers, solo playwrights, and cabaret performance artists. The series was founded by Quinn Cox and is produced in partnership with Cambridge s Glow Festival and Provincetown s Afterglow Festival. THE POETRY BROTHEL Friday, September 22 at 8:30PM Tickets $30 - $75 The Poetry Brothel is an interactive poetry experience set up as a decadent fin de siècle brothel. Poets performing under pseudonyms offer private, one-on-one poetry readings of their original work in candlelit back rooms for money. The main room presents an immersive cabaret, which consists of live music, burlesque, vaudeville, aerials, fortune tellers, painters, and other related acts. THE SILKROAD ENSEMBLE WITH YO-YO MA Tuesday, September 26 at 7PM Free with Harvard ID General public sale to be announced Inspired by the exchange of ideas and traditions along the historical Silk Road, cellist Yo-Yo Ma ( 76) established Silkroad in 1998 to create music that engages difference. Silkroad has been affiliated with Harvard University since 2005, with offices on Harvard s Allston campus since 2010. Through mentorships and workshops, Silkroad acts as a working laboratory at the intersection of the arts and academics, sparking radical cultural collaboration and passiondriven learning among Harvard staff, students, and faculty.

SESSION AMERICANA Live @ OBERON Wednesday, September 27 and Wednesday, October 25 at 8PM Tickets $15 - $25 Session Americana huddles close to a table wired for sound, with suitcase drums, an electric bass, and a pump organ on the perimeter. With five writers, and all six of these Boston all-stars sharing lead vocals, you never know what s coming next, only that you can t wait to find out. After ten years of building audiences and winning awards in Boston, the Northeast, and Europe, 2015 s Folk Alliance exposed the band to the national industry. Invitations to showcase at the AMAs, join a national booking agency, be the closing act at Sister s Festival, and play Rocky Mountain Folks Fest followed. BAWDY STORYTELLING Thursday, September 28 at 8PM Tickets $20 Bawdy Storytelling, named The Original Sex and Storytelling series by Playgirl Magazine, features real people and rockstars sharing their bonafide sexual exploits live on stage. Storytellers are an eclectic mix of authors, porn stars, sex educators, comics, and more, along with regular Joes just like you who submitted their stories online and were chosen for their panache and sense of (Mis)Adventure. HETEROTOPIA: LIVE CONCERT PERFORMANCE Friday, September 29 at 9PM Tickets $15 - $25 Schooltree returns to OBERON to reprise their new rock opera Heterotopia live in its entirety after the sold out premiere performance earlier this year. From siren song of doom to shredding anthem of the righteous, Schooltree is art rock built for an amphitheater. Their fantastically, defiantly ambitious (NPR) second studio release and multimedia epic Heterotopia fuses the research of classical music and literature with high-voltage pop songwriting in an absorbing, allegorical story. This show celebrates the release of the companion book to the album: kaleidoscopic watercolor storyboard illustrations telling the story of Suzi, the hero of the story, in Otherspace.

YO SOY LOLA Sunday, October 8 at 8:30PM Tickets $25 - $50 Join us for a thought-provoking multimedia experience showcasing Latinas in the arts and raising awareness of the multi-dimensional Latina experience. Net proceeds fund scholarships and artistic ideas that directly impact the next generation of Latinx youth and their communities. After the show, a Latin dance party continues into the night! THE STORY COLLIDER Wednesday, October 11 at 8PM Tickets $10 - $12 From finding awe in Hubble images to visiting the doctor, science is everywhere in our lives. Whether we wear a white lab coat or haven t seen a test tube since eighth grade, science affects and changes us. We all have a story about science, and at The Story Collider, the audience wants to hear those stories.
