International Opera and Song Academy IOSA Internationale Akademie fur Oper und Gesang Summer Workshop 2009 Oberradkersburg Castle Grad Gornja Radgona Slovenia August 1 August 12, 2009 This workshop is intended for singers who are preparing to make their first steps towards a professional career in singing or have already achieved some amount of professional success already and would like to prepare and expand their repertoire for auditions and vocal competitions for solo or opera chorus work. The primary goals of this workshop include exploration of vocal technique, musical development and personal organization towards developing a successful audition package. Over the course of these two intensive weeks we offer Private Voice Lessons, One-on-one Vocal Coaching, Role study, Opera Chorus, Audition Training and Diction courses in Italian, German and English among other opportunities. Audition Requirements: 1. At least 18 Years of Age (proof of age) 2. A performance CV showing enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Voice program, or proof of degree from such a program. 3. An audition DVD or CD with at least or 3 selections in varying languages and styles, with a corresponding repertoire list.

Jung Career in an Opera Chorus with Martin Schebesta Opera in the USA and in Italy with Moore, Wunder Audition Training with Moore, Wunder, Jung, Schebesta Final Concert Gala at the Castle Courses are taught in German, Italian and English On course days the participants are served a buffet lunch at a Bad Radkersburg Buschenschank in the castle. Housing accommodations are in the Murgassl and Ferk guesthouses, located in the center of Bad Radkerburg, Austria s historic old city and just a few minutes walking distance from the Oberradkersburg castle over the Mur River in Slovenia. The price for a single room in the guesthouse (including Breakfast) costs 24/night. Tuition The tuition for the whole workshop is 500,00 or $725.00. Upon acceptance to the workshop, a registration fee of 50,00 or $75.00 is due immediately. This deposit cannot be refunded under any circumstance. The balance of the tuition 450,00 or $650.00 is due, payable to the Internationalen Akademie fur Oper und Gesang, by the first day of the workshop. The tuition includes all classes, lunch on course days and the final performance. Participants are responsible for paying for their own transportation and housing. Klaus D. Jung was born in Weimar and received his initial Musical education at the Franz List Academy of Music. He later completed his degree in conducting at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. His first engagements took him to the theater in Erfurt and Plauen where he held the position of Kapellmeister. While living in Austria from 1991 to 2002 Mr. Jung was the music director and conductor of the St. Pölten Landestheater, and simultaneously led the Vienna State Opera Chorus and the Eleven school. Mr. Jung has regularly conducted seminars and workshops with the Opera & Song Academy at the University of Memphis, Academia Vocalis in Tyrolia and at the Hamburg Conservatory of Music. He has been a judge on the famous Belvedere Vocal Competition in Vienna and was the music director of the Nico-Dostal Competition for Operetta in Lower-Austria. For several years Mr. Jung has recently worked as a guest conductor with the Vienna Boys Choir and joined them on several tours through many foreign countries. During the Vienna Music Festival he worked as the director of studies on productions with the esteemed stage director Peter Sellars. From 2004 to 2008 Mr. Jung was the Head Music Director of the Hamburg Chamber Opera-Alletheater. Since 2009 he is an acting Lecturer at the Hamburg Conservatory of Music and the Performing Arts. Andrea Edith Moore, soprano, has sung numerous leading roles on the operatic stage including the roles of Manon, Anne Trulove, Countess Almaviva, Lauretta, Zerlina, Musetta, Eurydike, and Nellie in Hoiby s Summer and Smoke among others with companies that include the Hamburger Kammeroper, the Long Leaf Opera Festival, Opera Company of North Carolina, Aspen Music Festival, Central City Opera, Yale Opera, and Peabody Opera Theater. Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms. Moore has been heard with the Richard Tucker Foundation of New York, at the Munich Museum of Egyptian Art and on tour in South America appearing with the Orquesta Filarmonica de Buenos Aires at the prestigious Teatro Colon, the Orquesta Sinfonica Brasileira at Rio de Janeiro s Teatro Municipal, Orquesta Sinfonica da Bahia and the Orquesta Clasica de Santiago. Ms. Moore was honored in 2009 with a career grant from the Anna Sosenko Foundation. Among many honors she has won Third Prize in the Southeast Regional Finals in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and was named the Opera Company of North Carolina s 2005 Emerging Artist of the Year. She holds a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma from Yale University as well as a Bachelor of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of Music at The Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Moore will join the faculty of the voice department at UNC Chapel Hill this Fall. Martin Schebesta is the current director of the Vienna State Opera Chorus and the artistic director for the World Choral Festival held in Vienna. Born in Zwettl, Austria he studied Choral Conducting with Erwin Ortner and Organ with Hans Haselböck at the Vienna Music Conservatory for Music and Performing Arts as well as Conducting with Michael Gielen at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Following an engagement as the Music director of Stiftes Zwettl, Mr. Schebesta was the director of the Vienna Boys Choir from 19942007, touring through Europe, Asia, North and South America and appearing in many of the most famous concert halls of the world. He regularly conducts workshops for Choral singers and conductors both nationally and internationally and has adjudicated many different international music competitions. In his experience as a conductor, Mr. Schebesta has had the privilege of working with such varied groups as the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Johann Strauß Chamber Group, the Lower-Bavaria Philharmonic, The Philharmonic Orchestra of Budejovice, Chechnya, the Musique sur la Mer Symphony Orchestra in California, the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra and was guest conductor of the Vienna Hofmusikkapelle. 4

Born in Hamburg, Birgit Wunder studied Art History and Archeology at the Christian-AlbrechtsUniversity in Kiel. Following the completion of her Masters degree and Artist Diploma in Stage and Costume design at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, she also completed a Masters degree in Philosophy at the Universities of Padua and Venice, where she lived from 1991 to 2006. She continued her studies of Cultural Anthropology and Ethno-linguistics at the Università degli Studi Cà Foscari in Venice. From 2001-2006 she was a member of the board of the Italian Society of Kirkegaard-Studies (SISK). Since 1991 Mrs. Wunder has been Stage and costume designer for many Opera, Ballet and Theater productions as well as for Film and Television, for example ZDF, ARD, Bavaria Film, Arte and 3Sat. She also works regularly as a Set painter and designer with the Hamburg State Opera as well as a graphic designer and illustrator. Recently, she has worked, in collaboration with the State School for Ballet in Berlin and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, on costume design sketches for the upcoming production of A Midsummer Night s Dream which will premiere in the beginning of July 2009. Makiko Eguchi Piano and Accompanying Makiko Eguchi was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1982. Following her Bachelors degree in 2007 in Voice and Piano from the University of Fine Arts in Tokyo she came to Germany to continue her studies in vocal accompanying at the Hamburg Conservatory. Since April 2008 Ms. Eguchi has worked as Musical Director and Accompanist in several theaters throughout Hamburg, including the Jungen Musiktheater, the Hamburg Chamber Opera, the Lubeck Pocket Opera, the Forum der Hochschule fur Musik and the Hamburg Theater. She has already gained an extensive knowledge of the operatic repertoire after only a short time in the field. Ms. Eguchi enjoys an active concert and accompanying career as the pianist for Live Music Now in Rostock and Hamburg. She has participated in Master Classes with Ernst Haefliger and Norman Shetler. This year Ms. Eguchi was the pianist for masterclasses with Tanya ASpelmeier and Knut Schoch in Japan and acted as the official interpreter for the course. 5
