(Parents, remember, some of these instruments are expensive!)

PERFORMERS CHRIS BURNS is principal double bassist of Tacoma Symphony Orchestra. He also performs with Northwest Sinfonietta and is a substitute bassist with Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera. Chris is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and was a Fulbright Scholar in Vienna, Austria. In addition to performing, Chris is a dedicated string teacher, having earned a Master of Arts degree in teaching from University of Puget Sound. He currently teaches orchestra at Narrows View Intermediate in University Place. NEIL HULBERT, a recent graduate of St. Olaf College, is a jazz and classical trumpet player. While at St. Olaf, he played in the orchestra, band, jazz band, and in the pit for musicals. In 2012 the St. Olaf Jazz Band was selected as best Undergraduate Jazz Band by Downbeat magazine. He also played in the gypsy rock band Dirty Petrov and in Civil War reenactment bands. Neil is currently applying to graduate school in trumpet performance. DUANE HULBERT is a Juilliard-trained, Grammy-nominated pianist who has appeared as soloist with many major orchestras in the United States. He is head of the piano department at University of Puget Sound. A Minnesota native, he received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School and his Doctorate of Music degree from The Manhattan School of Music. His CD of Glazunov piano works was nominated for a 2002 Grammy award. JUDY CARLSON HULBERT, a former editor at Seventeen magazine, has had nine children s books published, and a musical revue which ran seven months off-off- Broadway. With her husband, Duane Hulbert, she has written six musicals. Her plays have been produced in New York and Colorado. Judy also writes and directs plays for elementary and middle schools. DUANE AND JUDY HULBERT have written six children s musicals and produced a CD, The Orchestra s Party, which introduces all of the instruments in the orchestra. They wrote a 20-minute classical chamber piece for children, The Tale of Pecos Bill, and are currently working on an original musical.
