Follow these instructions if you are using Infocaster with a Matrox G550 output card. If the card is not already installed on your system, follow the manufacturer s directions to install the card. Make Sure the Output Hardware is Supported If the Infocaster computer has an Intel processor. you can use any model (16MB or 32MB, PCI or AGP) of the G550 card. If the computer does not have an Intel processor, you cannot use the 16 MB PCI or the LE model of the G550 card. You should check the documentation included with the computer to make sure the hardware combination is supported, or ask your system administrator for assistance. Supported Operating Systems G550 cards are only supported by Infocaster in Windows XP. Required Drivers The latest Matrox drivers are not supported by Infocaster. The following drivers must be used, and are available from Imagine Communications Support as required. AGP: 5.86.032 PCI-E: 5.96.004 Make Sure the "Onboard" VGA is Disabled If the motherboard in the Infocaster computer has an onboard VGA there can be resource conflicts with the G550. The onboard VGA must be disabled. You should check the documentation included with the computer to find out if the motherboard has an onboard VGA, or ask your system administrator for assistance. The system administrator must disable onboard VGA in the computer BIOS and in Windows XP. Connect Output Hardware Cabling The following hardware is required. Matrox TV-out cable (HD15 to RCA-female and S-video) if connecting to an S-Video TV monitor. RCA male to RCA male extension cable if connecting to a Composite Video TV monitor. SyncLock device. You must connect the SyncLock even if you are using S-video. 1. Make sure the computer is turned off. Connections are not detected by the system if you connect when the computer is turned on. 2. Make sure the computer monitor is connected to the connector labeled with a symbol. The G550 connection requires a DVI to RGB converter supplied by the manufacturer. 2014 Imagine Communications. 3. Connect the TV output adapter cable supplied by the manufacturer to the connector labeled "2" on the G550 card. 4. Connect the SyncLock to COM port 1 on the computer. You might need your system administrator to confirm that COM port 1 is enabled, available, and working correctly. You must connect the SyncLock, even if you are using S-video. 5. Connect the SyncLock to composite VIDEO OUT on the Matrox TV-Out cable. 6. Connect the TV monitor to the TV output adapter using one of the following methods: For an S-video TV Monitor, connect the TV monitor directly to the S-video TV output adapter cable using the S-video cable. For a Composite Video TV Monitor, connect the SyncLock to the TV monitor using the extension cable. Set Up Matrox Card Output Make Sure Your Display Settings are Correct Right-click on the Windows desktop. 1. Select Properties to open the Display Properties dialog. 2. If the G550 is not listed complete the following steps. a. Click on the Advanced button. b. Switch to the Monitor tab. c. Click on the Properties button. d. Select "Use this device (enable)" from the "Device usage" drop-down list. e. Click on OK, then OK again to return to the Settings tab. Figure 1: Display Properties Settings Tab 3. Make sure the screen resolution is 1024 X 768, 32 bit color. This setting is supported by the hardware/software configuration. Other resolutions might work. After you confirm that your system is working, you can try increasing the resolution if you prefer. Make Sure Your DualHead Display Settings are Correct If you make any changes to the settings on the DualHead tab, you need to reboot the computer before the settings take effect. 1. 2. Switch to the DualHead tab.if the DualHead tab lists "Advanced Settings" instead of "TV Output" then your G550 connectors are reversed at the card. Figure 2: Matrox DualHead Tab 3. Double-click on Features. 4. Click on each feature and make sure your settings match this list: DualHead Multi-Display: Disabled DualHead Clone: Disabled DualHead Zoom: Disabled DualHead DVDMax: Enabled Make Sure Your DualHead DVDMax Settings are Correct. If you make any changes to the settings under the DualHead tab, you need to reboot the computer before the settings take effect. 1. Double-click on DualHead DVDMax to open the DualHead DVDMax settings dialog.make sure Use DualHead DVD Max is checked. 2014 Imagine Communications. Proprietary and Confidential. 7/22/2014 Page 6
2. Make sure "Always scale to full screen" is selected. If required, set 16:9 in the Infocaster Configuration Utility, not in the aspect ratio area. Figure 3: DualHead DVDMax Settings 3. Make sure the Advanced settings match this list: "Preserve source cropping": not checked. "Scale only on page flip": not checked (see figure below). Use field-based scaling": not checked. 4. Click on OK. Figure 4: Typical Output Error Pattern When "Scale Only on Page Flip" Setting is Incorrect Make Sure Your TV Standard is Correct On the DualHead tab, double-click on TV Output. 1. If you have no SYNC on your display after installing Infocaster, reinstall Infocaster and make sure that the NTSC/PAL setting matches the TV standard selected here. 3. Leave the DualHead tab open for the next procedure. Figure 5: DualHead TV Standard Note: If you make any changes to the settings under the DualHead tab, you need to reboot the computer before the settings take effect. Confirm Output 1. Turn on your output monitor. 2. On the DualHead tab, click on TV Adjustments. 3. Click on Change Settings. Color bars appear on your output monitor. If color bars don t appear, cable connections or driver version could be the problem. 4. Click on OK, and return to the Windows desktop. 2014 Imagine Communications. Configure Video Output Configure Video Output Within the Infocaster Configuration Utility, switch to the Video/Audio Standard tab to configure Infocaster to use your G550 card. You must select the Matrox G550 option from the Select Output Mode drop-down list.
