Chapter 1 : DVB-S 100 PCI Card Hardware Installation 1.1 Package Contents Unpack your DVB-S 100 PCI card package and make sure that all items are intact. The following items should be included in your package: DVB-S 100 PCI Card Remote control & remote sensor DVB-S PLUS user manual Installation manual Installation CD 1.2 System Requirements PC with Pentium-IV 1.6GHz or above 256MB RAM of system memory or above PCI 2.2 compliant slot Graphics card (Must support DirectX 9.0) Sound card (AC97 compatible sound card) 1GB free HD space CD-ROM drive (For software installation) Microsoft Windows 2000/XP Satellite dish & LNB 1.3 Hardware Installation Please follow the steps shown below for installation of your TV Card and follow the pictorial guide below for peripheral connections. 1. Turn off all your computer power and any peripherals. 2. Select an available PCI slot and remove the slot cover, screw, etc. 3. Push the Satellite TV card firmly into the slot until it snaps in place and secure the card by the screw you removed from step 2. 4. Place the case lid back on and power on. 2
Chapter 2 : DVB-S 100 PCI Utilities And Drivers Setup The DVB-S 100 PCI card package comes with complete Windows software utilities. These utilities can be found on the CD-ROM in this package. During installation, it is highly recommended to disable any sub-programs. These include applications such as antivirus software and system monitoring applications. 1. When you finish the hardware setup and restart your system. The Found New Hardware Wizard window will pop up. Please click Cancel and you can make use of DVB-S setup utilities for proper installation. 2. Place the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive and the autorun setup page will detect whether your DirectX version is 9.0c or not. For best performance and stability, update your DirectX version up to Ver9.0c. Click Yes to start installing DirectX 9.0c to your system. 3. Insert the installation CD into the CD ROM drive. The auto run page will appear as the one of the left, please select Driver Install. 4. The driver utilities will help you to install all the drivers. First, it will install the TV remote control on your system. Click Next to continue. 3
5. Then the utilities will help you install the TV card driver automatically. Click Next to install DVB-S 100 PCI driver. 6. Click Start to install the DVB-S 100 BDA driver. Please wait, while the installation is in process. 7. Choose Yes, I want to restart my computer now and click Finish to restart your computer and activate the driver. Note: You can restart your computer after installing DVB-S PLUS software application 4
Chapter 3 : DVB-S PLUS Software Installation After installing the driver, the next step you need to do is to install DVB-S PLUS. Please follow the steps below for installation. 1. Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. The auto run page appears as the one on the left. Click on DVB-S PLUS to start installation. 2. The InstallShield Wizard will guide through installation of DVB-S PLUS application. Click Next to continue. 3. Please choose the destination folder where you want to install the files. You can click Browse to change the destination folder. 4. Setup will add program icons to the Program Folder s list. You may type a new folder name, or select one from the existing folders list. Click Next to start installing. Please wait while installation in process. 5
5. When the message as the one on the left pops up, click Finish to end the installation. 6
Chapter 4 : DVB-S PLUS Software Functions When using DVB-S PLUS, There are four different functions to choose from. Picture below is an example of how the interface looks like and a short description of each function. STVR : STVR turns your PC into a full-featured video recorder. MPEG Encoder : MPEG Encoder converts AVI files into MPEG format. Video Editor : Video Editor makes editing MPEG video files easy. Burn DVD : Burn DVD creates VCD, SVCD and DVD that can be played on a PC or DVD player. Note: For more detailed descriptions, please refer to DVB-S PLUS user manual. 7
Chapter 5 : FAQ 1. How to reset the TV system? Ans : To re-set the TV system again, follow the pictorial guide below and choose DVB-S 100 TVSetup to change system settings. Fig. 1 2. How to check if the drivers have been installed successfully or not? Ans :Right click on My Computer on the desktop and choose Properties. Once in Properties window, click on Device Manager in Hardware panel. Click on the plus icon of Sound, video and game controllers to open the device list. 3. How to check if the Remote Control can work fine? Ans : 1) You have to check if the Remote Control utility is installed or not. Please refer to Fig. 1 2) You have to check if the drivers have been installed or not. See FAQ-2. 3) You can check if the Remote Control tray icon is loaded in the right-bottom of task bar.
