Audioarts X-12 Digital MODULAR I/O DIGITAL AUDIO CONSOLE We re in the second decade of the 2000 s and there have never been more choices in audio formats for input or output. Whether you are a broadcaster or podcaster, you need easy, intuitive access to whatever your program calls for. The X-12 DIGITAL, with its small footprint, modular I/O, and digital signal path, fits the bill perfectly. Its USB port allows direct interfacing to computer-based editors and automation, and its low profile and attractive price point allow it to fit into any studio and budget. The X-12 DIGITAL features a sleek, low-profile 12-fader control surface that s as simple to install and use as an analog console. A dedicated 13th fader is set up for working with phone hybrids and call-in systems. Its I/O design allows the use of analog or AES digital sources or a combination of both. Input channels each have selectable A/B sources, LED illuminated ON, OFF, and CUE switches, and access to three stereo program busses. Monitoring functions with level control are available for control room, headphone and studio. There s a built-in cue speaker and headphone jack, both with their own amplifiers and level controls. In addition to the main program bus meters, there is a stereo pair of switched LED bargraph meters which can monitor a variety of signals. The X-12 DIGITAL is also equipped with a patchable USB port for audio transfer to and from a computer or other device. With virtually unmeasurable crosstalk and distortion and a -135dBfs noise floor, the X-12 DIGITAL is ready with the superb audio quality that HD or IP radio demands. With great versatility in a compact, low-profile, cost-effective package, this console fits right into any small to medium-sized radio studio. 4

Cool Stuff about X-12 DIGITAL Modular I/O On the X-12 DIGITAL, analog and digital inputs and outputs can coexist in a way that s easily configurable by you. Choose analog, digital or a combination that fits the way you work. It s as easy as swapping modules on the back panel. Patchable Bi-Directional USB Port Using your X-12 DIGITAL with your computer makes it flexible and expandable. Send or receive audio from digital source material. Use your computer as an ad hoc automation system. Or simply integrate any material that lives on your computer system into your programming. This makes the X-12 DIGITAL a natural for podcasting. Exceptionally Easy, Tamper-Proof Access The back panel on the X-12 DIGITAL is completely accessible for initial hookup as well as modifying your wiring or replacing modules. DIP switches allow fast configuration. When you are all set, the X-12 DIGITAL has a back cover to keep the interface covered. Not only does this provide a clean presentation, it adds a layer of security against possible accidents. 6
X-12 DIGITAL Surface Input Channel INPUT: Selects between two preset sources. PGM ASSIGN: Directs the module s signal to any of three stereo output busses. CUE: Routes the module s prefader signal to the CUE bus. FADER: 100mm Long-throw Penny + Giles fader for module level control. ON/OFF: Switches the module s audio on and off. Caller Channel Same as input channel with these differences. CALLER FEED: Determines which of the three stereo busses feeds audio back to the caller. SET UP/COM: When toggled ON, puts the incoming audio in CUE and routes the announce mic to the caller. Cue CUE: Master level control for the console s cue bus. CUE LED: Indicates that the CUE bus is active. CR/HDPN Monitor PGM 1/2/3: Selects the output bus to be listened to over the control room and headphone monitors. EXT: Selects an external input, such as an off-air monitor receiver, to feed the CR/HDPN monitors. CONTROL ROOM: Level control for the control room speakers. HEADPHONE: Controls headphone volume. Switched Meter PGM 2/3: Selects PGM 2 or PGM 3 to feed the switched meter pair. EXT: Meters an external audio feed such as an off-air receiver. Studio Monitor TB: Button and knob enable and control volume of talkback to the studio speakers. EXT: Feeds the studio speakers from an external source. STUDIO: Level control for studio speakers. 7
