In technology, as in art, there are small steps, and there are giant leaps. Thanks to its artful application of revolutionary technology, QUALIA 005 sits quite alone in the latter group. Taking in the beautiful images on its full High Definition (1920 x 1080 p) screen is to see the future of video. To be treated to a brilliant clarity, an unprecedented depth of color, and a thing of startling beauty.
Sony s proprietary TRILUMINOSt technology takes its maiden voyage aboard QUALIA 005, making it the world s first RGB LED backlit LCD television. Thanks to this advanced technology and Sony s self-adjusting image processing, the QUALIA 005 picture is absolutely stunning, operating literally off the scale at 105% of the NTSC color gamut. Indeed, QUALIA 005 actually surpasses CRT technology in the ability to reproduce color.
UNPARALLELED REALISM / Until now, High Definition LCD televisions have been lit by CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent) systems. The technology starts with a white light and uses filters to create onscreen color. The limited color range inherent in the process has always existed as an assumed theoretical ceiling, due to the cost and complexity of other considered solutions. Ignoring these artificial boundaries, the TRILUMINOS LED backlight system takes a completely new approach. Instead of using filters, the LCD panel is lit by individual red, green and blue LEDs. The color control takes a quantum leap beyond today s most advanced flat panel televisions. Applied to the 46" LCD screen, the resulting realism is breathtaking. Rather than modifying a single white light source, QUALIA 005 employs red, green and blue LEDs for each source.this creates an astonishing improvement in color control and realism. CRT and Plasma technologies are able to reproduce on average 70% of the colors in the NTSC color specification. The TRILUMINOS system at the heart of QUALIA 005, however, achieves 105%, reproducing colors not even found in the NTSC specification.
zoom m 1080 p 2,073,600 pixels 720 p 1,049,088 pixels THE NEW STANDARD / The greater a screen s resolution, the more detail, the greater the clarity, the richer the image. Most of today s High Definition televisions are capable of displaying resolutions up to 720 p. While this is certainly an improvement over standard definition the norm for the previous half century it is still only about 67% of the available full High Definition image. The remarkable LCD panel used in QUALIA 005 displays full 1920 x 1080 p resolution, providing much greater definition and color depth.
ELEGANT INSTALLATION / Like any work of art, QUALIA 005 deserves suitable installation. So all connections (cable, satellite, PVR, DVD, etc.) are made to the self-contained Media Receiver Unit (MRU), which can be located or hidden almost anywhere.. The screen s handsome, elegant profile is therefore entirely unencumbered, perfect for wall mounting. It can also be installed using the available, beautifully designed floor stand or tabletop stand.
a. b. c. d. Such an extraordinary television should be complemented with an extraordinary audio system. The 100 Watt Sonyr S-Mastert digital amplifier (a) powers a system of 10 high performance speakers, covering the audio spectrum in great detail. The four tweeters (b), two midrange speakers (c) and four woofers (d) create an audio landscape which matches the video in beauty and complexity.
