This experience is also a decisive factor in order to be able to guarantee high-quality terminations and joints for XLPE-insulated 12 36 kv medium voltage cables. With the early introduction of preassembled insulating bodies, Südkabel made sure that critical assembly steps such as the manufacturing of stress control or insulation elements were taken from the building site to the manufacturing plant. The standard range of cable accessories for XLPE-insulated medium voltage cables includes plug-in terminations for metal-enclosed switchgears with inner or outer cone, joints with multi-range applications and transition joints is completed by multi-range terminations for indoor and outdoor applications as well as terminations for electrostatic precipitators. Our medium voltage accessories are also approved for networks or applications up to 42 kv under increased testing demands. 3
Indoor terminations Multi-range TERMINATIONS 12 36 kv Indoor terminations with silicone rubber slip-on technology are set on cables with an insulation made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). Various optimisations have led to today's coon multi-range terminations for 12 and 24 kv. This type of termination covers up to five conductor cross sections with one insulating body and is compatible with press-fit and screw cable lugs. The applied insulating body material features relatively low shore hardness (A). This helps to achieve good adjustment to irregularities in the XLPE cable cores that potentially occur when stripping the welded exterior conductive layer. This makes post-processing of the stripped cores unnecessary. The indoor terminations significantly exceed the requirements of DIN VDE 0278-629-1. A breakout is required for application with three-core cables. For cable mounting, special cable fixings are available. 1 2 D 3 H 4 6 5 7 1 Cable lug for conductor connection 2 Insulation tube 3 Insulator 4 Stress control element 5 Exterior conductive layer 6 Screening cable lug 7 Exterior screen Type *) for cables according to DIN VDE 0276-620 Admissible core diameter Measure H Measure D Conductor cross section *) ² SEHDI 10.2 13.3 20.8 205 46 35 95 SEI 12 16.8 24.3 205 50 70 150 SEI 12 21.5 32.6 205 54 185 300 SEHDI 10.2 26.5 40.9 205 46 300 630 SEI 24 16.8 24.3 205 50 25 70 SEI 24 21.5 32.6 205 54 95 240 SEHDI 20.2 30.0 45.0 215 69 300 630 SEHDI 30.1 22.9 27.8 270 77 35 50 SEHDI 30.1 25.1 30.5 270 77 70 95 SEHDI 30.1 28.3 34.4 270 77 120 150 SEHDI 30.1 31.5 38.3 270 83 185 240 SEHDI 30.1 35.6 43.3 270 83 300 400 SEHDI 30.1 42.2 50.1 270 88 500 630 4

ACCESSORIES FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR TERMINATIONS Preassembled cable and high flexible cable links are XLPE cables or flexible EPR-insulated trailing cables which are equipped with terminations in the factory. They are primarily used for connections between transformers and switchgear or for special applications like electrically-powered trains. 1 D SEIK SET 2 SEW SEI 3 D 2 min 110 min 110 130 14 95-115 12 120 236 34 60 130 80 145 1 BSW fixing clamp 2 Reduction insert 3 BSS fixing clamp D 30 50 Preassembled cable and high flexible cable links 12 36 kv The minimum bending radius typical for flexible trailing cables is ideal for installation in narrow areas. Potentially occurring mechanical loads after short-circuits and cable oscillations or due to the inherent rigidity of the cable can be controlled by means of suitable fixing clamps. BSW fixing clamps that are especially designed for SEHDF outdoor terminations (for horizontal mounting) and BSS fixing clamps (for vertical mounting) are made of glass fibre reinforced UV-resistant polyamide. They are characterised by a large clamping length of 100 for ideal mounting while observing the admissible surface pressure of the cable. Adjustment to individual external cable diameters is enabled by different reducers. Fixing clamps can be used for all coon dimensions on panels in 5 increments. Various reducers enable adjustment of individual external cable diameters. *) Air installation at an ambient temperature of 30 C 7
JOINTS AND TRANSITION JOINTS JOINTS 12 36 kv The SEV joint with slip-on technology serves as the connection between two plastic-insulated cables with 12, 24 or 36 kv. 9 7 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 9 10 1 Insulating body 2 Stress controlling layer 3 Conductive outer coating 4 Press-fit connector 5 Shrinkable tube 6 XLPE cable core 7 Copper braided tape 8 Screen wires 9 Sealing wrap 10 XLPE cable The multi-range capability enables use of up to five cross sections with one insulating body size. The single-part, triple-extruded insulating body is made of silicone rubber and consists of a refractive stress control element, silicone insulation and an external conductive layer. The conductor connection can either be realised with screw or press-fit connectors. Connections within one joint size can be realised without any problems. The metal screen of the joint consists of one winding of braided copper tape. The external mechanical protection is usually provided by a heat shrinkable tube. Optionally, corrosion protection tape can be used. SEV multi-range joints meet the requirements of DIN VDE 0278-629-1.
