Biographical Note Herbert Stanton Phillips (1871 -- 1962) was a local educator and attorney. He served as Florida State Attorney General for the Sixth Judicial Circuit from 1900-1913 and as United States District Attorney for the Southern District of Florida from 1913-1921 and 1936-1953. Upon resigning from the US District Attorney's office, Phillips resumed general practice of law in Tampa. Scope Note Contains materials primarily centered on Phillips' legal career, including case files, correspondence and speeches. Also includes personal papers and photographs.
