SYNOPSIS With Kings Point, director/producer Sari Gilman tells the stories of five seniors living in a typical American retirement resort men and women who came to Florida decades ago with their spouses by their sides and their health intact, and now find themselves grappling with love, loss, and the universal desire for human connection. Shot over the course of 10 years, Kings Point is a bittersweet look at our national obsession with selfreliance, exploring the dynamic tension between living and aging while underscoring society s powerful ambivalence toward growing older. A FILM THAT IMPACTS ON OUR THINKING Kings Point offers audiences an opportunity to think about the fact that the elderly grapple with love and loss and the changing nature of relationships. And it may inspire people to talk to our seniors, ask them how they feel and try to understand their emotional landscape. It is a film that can initiate intergenerational dialogue within families about how and where we want to grow old, and with whom. Ask the hard questions: who do we want taking care of us when we are no longer able to care for ourselves? It is a film that can break through the denial of aging and death that is so pervasive in our culture. As Americans, we are afraid to talk about the reality of what happens in later life, so much emphasis is placed on "active" retirement, self-reliance, and staying independent.

ABOUT THE FILM TEAM SARI GILMAN Director/Producer Sari Gilman has been a documentary film editor for 15 years. She received a Primetime Emmy nomination for her work on Ghosts of Abu Ghraib, which aired on HBO and was directed by Rory Kennedy. She has worked on such award-winning films as Regret to Inform (Barbara Sonneborn, Janet Cole), which won Best Director at Sundance in 1999 and aired nationally on PBS, and Paragraph 175 (Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman), which won Best Director at Sundance in 2000, and aired on HBO. The first feature film she edited was Judith Helfand's "Blue Vinyl," which aired on HBO s America Undercover series in May, 2002. Other programs she has edited have appeared on HBO, AMC, A&E and PBS, including a history of Las Vegas and a history of New Orleans, both for PBS American Experience. Ms. Gilman also produced and directed two radio documentaries, which aired on NPR s All Things Considered. She is currently editing an ITVS-funded film about the campaign against Proposition 8 in California, directed by Christie Herring. Gilman edited Christy Turlington Burns' documentary "No Woman No Cry," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and aired on OWN. Kings Point is Gilman's directorial debut. She has received funding from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Pacific Pioneer Fund, and Chicken & Egg, among others. She assembled an accomplished team of collaborators, including editor Jeffrey Friedman (whose directorial credits include the recent "Howl," starring James Franco, the Oscarwinning "Common Threads," and "The Celluloid Closet". Richard Beggs, whose credits include "Apocalypse Now" and "Lost in Translation" did the sound design and mix. She recently attended Working Films' prestigious "REEL AGING: REEL CHANGE" residency, where she met leaders in the community of aging and discussed forming partnerships with them to distribute the film. JEDD AND TODD WIDER / WIDER FILM PROJECTS Producers The Emmy Award winning team of Jedd and Todd Wider formed Wider Film Projects to develop projects that have social and political resonance. In the past eight years, they have produced numerous critically and commercially successful feature documentary films. Most notably, the Widers are executive producers of the 2008 Academy Award Winner for Best Documentary and 2009 Emmy Award Winner for Best Documentary, TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE (2007) directed by Alex Gibney, producers of CLIENT 9: THE RISE AND FALL OF ELIOT SPITZER (2010) directed by Alex Gibney, producers of the critically acclaimed SEMPER FI: ALWAYS FAITHFUL (2011) directed by Rachel Libert and Tony Hardmon, executive producers of Morgan Spurlock s WHAT WOULD JESUS BUY? (2007), producers of the 2008 Sundance film KICKING IT (2007) broadcast by ESPN, about the Homeless World Cup soccer tournament, producers

of the POV film A DREAM IN DOUBT, producers of the critically acclaimed BEYOND CONVICTION (2006), producers of Paul Cronin s A TIME TO STIR about the Columbia University student uprisings in 1968, and producers of many other films. SUSANNAH LUDWIG Co-Producer Susannah Ludwig is a visionary independent producer who engages deeply and personally with her subject matter. Her nurturing yet direct style of collaboration has led her filmmaker partners toward greater discoveries and creative breakthroughs in their storytelling. When the Sundance Institute awarded Susannah Ludwig the Mark Silverman Fellowship, it was in recognition of these special and unusual qualities. The search for truth has inspired all of Ludwig s work, from theatrical films to documentaries, and she has chosen her projects by looking for stories that really matter from the immigrant experience to a daughter coping with her mother s mental illness to creative minds at work. Most recently, she co-created and executive produced the docuseries BOOMTOWN, about the effects of oil discovery on a small town in North Dakota. BOOMTOWN is currently airing on Discovery/Planet Green; the Associated Press called it brilliant, adding it's impossible not to get swept up in this saga of haves and havenots, and not to root for them all. In 2011, BOOMTOWN received the prestigious Best Limited Series award from the International Documentary Association. Other recent works Ludwig has produced include ANIMAS PERDIDAS (LOST SOULS), which aired on PBS Independent Lens series in March of 2010; the awardwinning MY MOTHER S GARDEN, currently airing on MSNBC; and CLOSE UP: Photographers at Work, which aired on Ovation TV, and Self Portrait With Cows Going Home and Other Works: A PORTRAIT OF SYLVIA PLACHY, which won the grand jury prize for best short documentary at the 2008 Seattle International Film Festival. STOLEN, a feature documentary exploring the infamous 1990 art heist that stripped the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston of some of the world s most beloved paintings, won the audience award at the Sarasota Film Festival and the best documentary award at the Avignon/New York Film Festival. STOLEN received support from the Jerome Foundation, New York State Council of the Arts, the Roy W. Dean Foundation and the Women in Film Finishing Fund. The film was released theatrically in 50 cities across the country, distributed via Netflix and broadcast on PBS Independent Lens series. Ludwig has also been a major force in the realization of numerous critically acclaimed narrative films including OUR SONG, directed by Jim McKay; BALLAD OF RAMBLIN JACK, directed by Aiyana Elliott; SPRING FORWARD starring Ned Beatty and Liev Schreiber, directed by Tom Gilroy; and LA CIUDAD, directed by David Riker. Ludwig is currently developing a diverse slate of projects, including a narrative project, THE REAL LIFE OF ISABEL X, directed by Rebecca Dreyfus; and documentaries, including FLAT DADDY, directed by Betsy Nagler & Nara Garber; SUNLIGHT MAN, directed by Joel Gardner; and KING S POINT, directed by Sari Gilman as well as the docu series ON MEDITATION.
