Debra Cole is a well-respected comic in Atlanta. She s known for her sophisticated and smart that s delivered with a seemingly sweet and yet surprising sarcastic southern Georgia twang. She taught public school for 9 years and then sprang forward full time into comedy, writing, music, and independent filmmaking. She is the creator and host of the Kavarna Comedy show the last Sunday night each month. She also writes a column on irreverentview.com and is an accomplished flutest. Debra s stories, daily experiences, sassiness, sharp observations, and lyrical style stem from a unique lifestyle, and a perspective derived from having grown up in a paradoxical household-literature teacher mother and redneck handy-man father. Her unassuming nature can initially mask the comic lioness within. But don t let her alluring smile and petite stature fool you. Debra is a pistol guaranteed to push buttons and bring you laughs.

Born to an Italian-American family in New Jersey, Sue was raised a strict, traditional Italian Catholic. However, having a father who is a great joke-teller and mimic, her bent toward comedy began at a very early age. Add Aunt Roses s birthday trips to Broadway once a year and a performer was in the making. After winning the coveted class clown award in high school, within a year Sue did her 1 st open mic performance at Rascal s Comedy Club in West Orange, NJ. That very night, a young unknown named Rosie O Donnell took her aside and gave her some invaluable tips. Under her new stage name of Kate Michaels, Sue moved on to the original Improv, Catch a Rising Star, Eastside Comedy Club, while remaining a regular at her home club Rascal s. As Sue s wit and style began to really catch on, she moved up to feature act and then on to the prized title of headliner! As a headliner, Sue gave numerous SRO performances at Stitches Comedy Club in Boston, every resort in the Poconos, and numerous nightclubs in New York State and Connecticut. She also appeared at the oldest comedy club in the country, The Comedy Cottage in Chicago. Moving to Atlanta in the mid-90 s, Sue sought to (in her mother s words) grow up and get a real job. Finding the itch to get back on stage impossible to resist, she began her comeback in Atlanta s thriving comedy scene. With the addition of life experience and being odd man out as an Italian in the deep south, Sue s routine reflects on both and brings the audience to new understanding through laughter.
