Appendix IV ABC NETWORK MASTER XDCAM 59.94 LONG-FORM FILE DELIVERY TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS NOTE: Beyond the specifications detailed below, all long-form media files delivered on behalf of ABC Network must adhere to any and all applicable sections of the ABC Program Material Technical Specifications, including general video mastering and post production requirements. HD FORMAT: All ABC Network 720P 59.94 file masters are to be delivered as XDCAM MPEG HD422. WRAPPER: All ABC Network 720p 59.94 file masters shall be wrapped as MXF OP1a. ASPECT RATIO: All HD Digital Masters are to retain original source aspect ratio of 16x9. VIDEO ENCODING SPECIFICATION: File-based HD video media shall be encoded using a licensed XDCAM MPEG HD422 encoder, using the following specifications: Codec: MPEG HD422 (MPEG-2 422P@ML) Frame Size: 1280x720 Field Mode: Progressive Frame Rate: 59.94 fps Field Dominance: None Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Color Depth: 8-bit Data Rate: 50 Mb/s CBR Time Code: Drop Frame Any file not encoded correctly, per the Sony XDCAM MPEG HD422 specification and the specifications contained in this document will be subject to rejection. VIDEO SIGNAL SPECIFICATIONS: First Active Line: Line 26 Last Active Line: Line 745 VIDEO LEVELS: All files will adhere to the same video level and color space specifications as found in the ABC Program Material Technical Specifications. 2
AUDIO ENCODING SPECIFICATION: File-based HD audio media shall be PCM encoded, using the following specifications: Sampling Rate: 48kHz Sample Depth: 16-bit Number of Channels: 8 AUDIO LEVELS: All files will adhere to the same audio level and loudness specifications as found in the ABC Program Material Technical Specifications. AUDIO CONFIGURATIONS: If a 5.1 English composite mix is provided, the following configuration is to be used: Ch. 1 = English Composite 5.1 Mix, Left Front (discrete) Ch. 2 = English Composite 5.1 Mix, Right Front (discrete) Ch. 3 = English Composite 5.1 Mix, Center (discrete) Ch. 4 = English Composite 5.1 Mix, LFE (discrete) Ch. 5 = English Composite 5.1 Mix, Left Surround (discrete) Ch. 6 = English Composite 5.1 Mix, Right Surround (discrete) Ch. 7 = Mono Audio Description Mix, or SAP Mix, or English Mix (as directed) Ch. 8 = Mono SAP or M.O.S. SLATE: Slate and label information should accurately reflect the source master provided. *All program run times should be inclusive of commercial blacks. Textless material will begin :60 after End of Program. Textless material will always be provided on DSM master unless it is determined that a separate Textless Version of the program must also be provided due to the volume of textless material required. Such decisions will be made by the production entity, in conjunction with Mastering Distribution and ABC Technical Operations. Any additional material (not found in program) required by other business groups, such as bumpers, billboard background/beds, etc., shall be added after textless material. 4
CLOSED CAPTION FILES: For vendors who create and deliver corresponding closed caption files along with the ABC Master files, the following specifications must be followed in the creation of CC files: File Format:.cap Cheetah only - NCI and CaptionMaker will not be accepted Frame Rate: 29.97 Starting Timecode: 01:00:00:00 Timecode Type: Drop-frame Style: Pop-on NOTE: If you are using MacCaption to create your.cap Cheetah closed caption files, there is a known bug in some versions older than 5.3. Therefore, only MacCaption cc files made from version 5.3 or newer will be accepted. In addition to the above encoding requirements, the following caption placement requirement must be adhered to: Placement of captions at the start of a program segment must begin 15 frames after first video, not in the preceding black. A separate corresponding closed caption (.cap) file must be delivered in addition to the XDCAM wrapped file. FILE NAMING NOTE: No spaces are allowed within the filename.
