Working with The Space: Branding Guidelines VERSION 2.1

Introduction 2 Welcome to The Space. We re delighted to be working with you. This brief guide is designed to help you credit The Space and our funders and supporters correctly. The Space was established by the Arts Council England and the BBC. This means that all activity in England that The Space undertakes is funded by ACE and the BBC, including of course your commission or project with us. In Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, commissions are funded by the BBC and either Arts Council Wales, Creative Scotland or Arts Council Northern Ireland. Arts Council England helps fund core costs for The Space so contributes to these projects also. We hope you agree with us about the importance of signifying to the public how the investment of public monies is supporting the arts. We d also like to use the opportunity of branding and credits to thank the funders who actively support the projects we commission. If you have any questions about the branding on your project, please do speak to the production team on 0121 663 1488 or email us on production@thespace.org. Many thanks for helping us recognise our funders and supporters. With that in mind, we ve developed some simple guidelines for the use of The Space, Arts Council England and BBC branding on projects. There are also guidelines for projects commissioned in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Rambert: The Creation COVER Slung Low: The Flood, Part One: From The Sea

Branding requirements 3 Each Space commissioned project must include as a minimum the following branding credits: 1. Our logo lockup of The Space, Arts Council England and BBC branding Examples of the Space logo and logo lockup are shown below. 2. In addition, for filmed projects, The Space ident OR logo at the beginning of the film, with the logo lockup of The Space, Arts Council England and BBC at the end of the film 3. Written credits for The Space, Arts Council England and the BBC if and where this is relevant, for example on a press release.

Branding requirements (continued) 4 Guidance for projects commissioned in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. For projects commissioned in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the logo lockup will include either Arts Council Wales, Creative Scotland or Arts Council Northern Ireland branding rather than the Arts Council England logo and revised written credits will apply. For wider initiatives or projects where funding from The Space, Arts Council England, the BBC and funding from Arts Council Wales, Creative Scotland or Arts Council Northern Ireland is included, we will work with you on a specific branding solution which incorporates the relevant funders. On this page are examples of The Space logo, and the alternative lockups if your project is commissioned in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Branding cases and guidance 5 We appreciate that each commission or project is different and so we have included the below guidelines for the most common types of projects and activities The Space commissions. However, if your project does not fall into one of these categories, or you wish to discuss the guidance and how it applies to your project, do ask the Space production team. We are here to help. Artichoke: London 1666

Branding cases and guidance (continued) 6 1. Filmed content ( the work ) All long form and short form filmed content; the work (captured content, live steams and other filmed content which is the actual content of the piece) The Space asks for the inclusion of our ident at the front of the film, before the piece, wherever possible and the relevant lockup at the end of the piece If The Space ident is not possible, The Space logo at the front and logo lockup at the end of the piece, for example as an end card/part of the end credits Note: consideration should also be given to how this is housed or presented on the platform where the work is to appear, for example in listings, The Space, ACE and BBC credits or relevant Nations credits should be included; the same approach should be taken for websites or other platforms where the work appears. 2. Filmed wraparound and promotional content, including trailers (all projects) As a minimum: The relevant logo lockup at the most appropriate place in the film (usually where the other logo credits are, for example at the front or end of the film) If you would also like to include The Space ident or logo at the front of the film also, that is very welcome. 3. Interactive projects (any other projects) If filmed content is included in the work then the same guidelines apply i.e. The Space ident at the front of the film, before the piece, wherever possible and the relevant logo lockup at the end of the piece If The Space ident is not possible, The Space logo at the front and logo lockup at the end of the piece, for example as an end card/part of the end credits For websites, apps and work built on other platforms e.g. dedicated social media accounts for the project: The relevant logo-lockup in a prominent position Written credits should also be reviewed on platforms to ensure The Space, ACE and BBC are credited where appropriate For aural (radio or other sound) projects, crediting should be built into scripts where possible and/or into the surrounding platform and content where the work is housed. In all of the above cases, The Space, ACE and BBC lock up should be used for projects commissioned in England. For projects commissioned in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, the relevant logo lockup should be included. For projects with funding from different nations, we will work with you on a dedicated branding solution.
