Biographies Concert Band & The Golden Eagles Big Band Bob Waner, director of the Concert Band and the Golden Eagles Big Band, recently retired from the Hemet Schools and now consults for the San Jacinto School District. His principal Instrument, the trombone, led him to study with Robert Marsteller of the LA Philharmonic and Roy Main an LA studio musician. Bob s background, ranges from symphony orchestra to big bands and jazz combos. Dance Tyffyne Stuart began her serious academic dance studies right here at MSJC. She then received her BA from UCSC where she double majored in Literature and Theatre Arts. Tyffyne has a strong passion for the arts and continued her education receiving an MFA in Choreography from Mills College in Oakland, California. Tyffyne has been an Associate Faculty member at MSJC since 2001 and is currently the Interim Dance Department chair. She is excited to be back in the MSJC community full-time and looks forward to a creative and productive year. Hemet Harmonizers Howard Mesecher has been directing The Hemet Harmonizers for the last 18 years along with other barbershop choruses in Fresno and Escondido CA. Howard served as the International Contest and Judging Chairman of the Barbershop Harmony Society and is active in community chorus work in Hemet and Cherry Valley. He played with the American Symphony Orchestra while attending the Shrivingham American University in England.
Inland Chorale Jane Atherstone, director of the Inland Chorale since 1989, is dedicated to presenting quality choral music in a professional yet entertaining manner. The Chorale has been praised for its beautiful tone quality, superb blend, excellent diction and repertoire ranging from classical to modern music. Atherstone is a well-known voice teacher in the San Jacinto Valley and a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the American Choral Directors Association. She has trained with some of the finest teachers and directors in the country, including Fred Waring and Richard Miller. Her voice students have been accepted into many prestigious college voice programs. Virginia Pritchard, an MSJC Faculty member, has been the Chorale s accompanist since it s founding. Her expert musicianship has been essential to the group s success. MSJC Symphony The MSJC Symphony is directed by John Brannon, who was named Music Educator of the Year by California State University, San Bernardino in 1997, and recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2001 in Victorville, CA. John founded and directed the Joshua String Quartet and Joshua Community Orchestra in Victorville California. He was the president of the board for the Victor Valley Symphony Association in 2002. Theatre and Musicals Lorney O Connor has an Interdisciplinary MA in Theatrical Design and Management from California State University San Bernardino and has recently completed an MFA in Theatrical Design from the University of Oregon, Eugene. At present, he is an Assistant Professor and the Department Chair of the MSJC Theatre Department. Lorney has received numerous Inland Theatre League Awards in many areas of design.
