Safety along the complete line: 3SE7 cable-operated switches Answers for industry.

Everything well under control. 3SE7 cable-operated switches With cable-operated switches from our 3SE7 product range, you are always well equipped whether a paper jam in a printing machine, an overloaded conveyor belt, or labeling errors at a packaging machine when parts of a plant or system must be iediately stopped due to a hazard. This is because our line of rugged switches which can be flexibly used almost anywhere, permit an iediate response in virtually any situation. The EMERGENCY STOP / EMERGENCY SWITCHING-OFF function can be triggered from every point along the range to be monitored even over long distances. The range for almost any application: 3SE7 an overview Whether monitoring potentially hazardous areas or used as EMERGENCY STOP devices our complete line of devices can be precisely set up in line with individual requirements. 3SE7 has even more to offer. For example, devices with bi-directional actuation can easily monitor distances up to 2 x 75 m such as belt skewing monitor devices that are used to monitor conveyor systems. Cable-operated switches with integrated AS-Interface can be directly connected to the AS-interface line with safety-relevant counications. LED technology can be optionally used or cable-operated switches with integrated EMERGENCY STOP pushbuttons. Equipped for virtually every situation: Installation and application All the devices have an IP67 degree of protection, metal enclosure, and tough steel cables cable-operated switches are designed and equipped for almost any application. With or without latching, applications include signaling devices as complete EMERGENCY STOP systems according to EN 18; or, with integrated EMERGENCY STOP pushbutton. Always in view: Signaling display 3SE7 devices always keep you informed about the operating state of your plant and machines whether directly at the device or from a distance of up to 75 m. Further, versions with LED indication distinguish themselves thanks to their costeffectiveness practically over the complete life cycle of the device. 2

Advantages p Control functions and EMERGENCY STOP p Version with integrated EMERGENCY STOP pushbutton p Increased safety and security over long distances up to lengths of 2 x 75 m p Complete systems for every requirement and range to be monitored p Simple release p Virtually fail-safe applications using Safety Integrated p Operating display directly at the switch p Signal display for long distances using innovative LED systems: Visible over 50 m with a high lifetime of approx. 50,000 hours p Pull switch with latching according to EN 18 full EMERGENCY STOP function with positively opening contacts p Fast and simple installation using a standard range of installation accessories Reliable in virtually every situation: Positive opening contacts (Direct Opening Action) and position display The NC contacts of all 3SE7 cableoperated switches are positive opening in order to ensure maximum safety and reliable switching either when pulling the cable or when the cable breaks. If the cable is pulled or the cable breaks, the appropriate contacts open and the circuit is interrupted. 3SE7 devices can be pre-tensioned with an accuracy of one millimeter during installation using turnbuckles. Cable-operated switches also have a position display for easier and better adjustment. Always within grasp: The principle of the cable-operated switch How can a cable-operated switch be used to monitor machines and plants over large distances and areas that cannot be guarded using standard safety covers? Can a single switch guarantee reliable protection up to 0 m? Definitely! The principle of a cable-operated switch is extremely simple, but smart. A cable runs along sections that are safety relevant and is connected to a cable-operated switch. The cable is always close at hand. If a fault occurs, the cable can be grabbed anywhere along the cable run and the plant or machine is iediately stopped. This virtually guarantees seamless safety along the complete cable run. 3

Make the right decision. Selection criteria and special issues There are cable-operated switches and then there are Cable-Operated Switches! When selecting the optimum device, as well as when installing it, not only must the requirements of the application be carefully taken into consideration but also the specific issues and characteristics of the range to be monitored. Listed below are some of the most important selection criteria so that you can safely make the right selection. Selection criteria for cable-operated switches/belt skewing monitor devices 3SE7 Cable lengths Switching contacts Release Optical signal Integrated EMERGENCY STOP Adjustment window (position of the pre-tensioned cable is displayed) Accessories Basic equipment m, 25 m, 50 m, 75 m, 2 x 75 m Various numbers of NO + NC contacts (depending on the Order No.) with without press to release key-operated release rotate to release (depending on the Order No.) none with red LED, 2 V DC Yes/no Yes/no 2 V DC / 115 V AC; red / clear LED Steel cable, cable clamps, cable eye, eye bolt

The appropriate equalization springs must be used to compensate for higher temperature fluctuations. In order to ensure a solid connection, the PVC sheath must be removed from the steel cable at the clamping position. Cable supports must be used at the recoended intervals (refer to technical data). 5
