Iâ m always fascinated by ancient civilization but yes, life during those days where not easy like today.i found, Egyptians belief towards death, Aztecâ s culture, government and political structure during olden days are very interesting and this book gave me introductory information about history.good book to know about our history. This book talks about ancient groups that gave great accomplishments, contributed to our understanding of the world around us and have manage to invoke great sense of power and awe to its achievements. I have learned so many great and interesting information about the Roman empire, Ancient China, Aztec and Greeks. This is indeed an interesting historical book! Okay, I don't normally give 1 star reviews, and it may seem unfair in light of the fact that this books was $1.13 when I bought it. It's so short I got through it in 30 minutes, but arguably that was cheaper and took longer to get through than a cup of coffee in a restaurant. The length isn't even necessarily a bad thing. The bad things can be summed up as a list.1) What makes purchasing a book worthwhile is that the author guides you to unique insights in the work, or reveals aspects of the information you didn't previously understand. The content in this is thin, to the point that certain Wikipedia entries for these civilizations are both longer in length and contain more information. There is literally nothing in this book you couldn't get for free on the Internet.2) No references. All right, maybe some unique insight into the civilizations, or even some idea of how they've influenced the modern world, was too much to ask for (although the blurb seems to indicate that this is the whole point of examining these civilizations, no matter how briefly). But if all we're going to be presented with is info-dumps, where is it coming from? There isn't a single reference in this book.3) The structure is haphazard. Some civilizations are presented in a strict timeline. Others are the subject of rambling discourse that follows a narrative rather than historic flow. There's no thematic, historical or geographic link between the different civilizations, no rationale given for why they've been grouped together, and no common thread tying all these historical vignettes together.in summary: see what civilizations are discussed in this book, go read the Wikipedia entries for each one, spend the cost of this book on anything else.
