HOW TO ENTER. Students wh identify as having a disability have tw ways t enter the Natinal PTA Reflectins Prgram. All students may enter in nly ne divisin. Student Entry Frm requires parent/legal guardian signatures. Optin 1. Enter in Grade-Level Divisins: Regardless f age, students with special needs may enter in the grade divisin mst clsely aligned t their functinal abilities. Students may nt receive assistance ther than that which is allwed fr all children. The divisins are as fllws: Primary (preschl grade 2); Intermediate (grades 3-5); Middle Schl (grades 6-8); High Schl (grades 9-12). Students are recgnized and awarded prizes as part f the general student ppulatin withut regard t special needs r challenges. Optin 2. Enter in Special Artist Divisin: Eligible students entering the Special Artist Divisin create their wn artwrk, but may receive nn-artistic accmmdatin and assistance frm an adult. Special artists shuld fllw the general rules and guidelines utlined in the arts categry student rules specific t their submissins, mdified nly by accmmdatins fr individuals with disabilities. Allwable Accmmdatins: Given the diverse range f physical and mental disabilities that exist, it wuld be impssible t utline specific accmmdatins fr each and every disability, but the fllwing prvides a nnexhaustive list f allwable accmmdatins: The Special Artist Divisin will nt be divided by age r traditinal schl grade level. Use f adaptive technlgy is allwed. All submissins must be slely created by the special artist. Hwever, a parent, teacher r ther adult may assist the special artist with typing, hlding a camera, etc. Accmmdatins that are Nt Allwed: Individuals prviding assistance t special artists may nt, in any way, invlve themselves in the actual artistic prcess by: Persnally selecting a title fr artwrk. Writing, editing r interpreting a student s artist statement, stry, petry r script. Chregraphing a dance, cmpsing music r writing lyrics.
