What is Surrealism? International movement (or philosophy) aimed at creating art that confronts the unconscious desires driving nations into what many people believe are acts of mass psychosis. Goal of a surrealist work is to represent the unconscious, and for many Surrealists, the world of dreams is where the unconscious resides causing their works to take on a non-mimetic style.
