Developed the concept of the unconscious which demonstrated that human beings might NOT entirely be in control of their mental and physical processes. What is Surrealism? International movement (or philosophy) aimed at creating art that confronts the unconscious desires driving nations into what many people believe are acts of mass psychosis. Goal of a surrealist work is to represent the unconscious, and for many Surrealists, the world of dreams is where the unconscious resides causing their works to take on a non-mimetic style.
