Changes in Installation Projector Needs : ALS About 30 years ago, the term "video/data projector" referred to a bulky, CRT-based unit and permanent-installation models were the only type available. Practical development of the LCD projector then led to more compact, more lightweight models and the projector market started expanding as PC use became increasingly widespread. Growing demand for projectors to suit mobile applications increased the proportion of portable models. The projector market is still exhibiting excellent growth, and a relatively new trend shows rising demand for easy-to-use, high-value permanent-installation models. Needs for projector types One projector used for multiple rooms Compact body Light weight Good value One projector per room One projector per auditorium Heavy Expensive Mobile LCD 3-LCD Size of market 1975 3-gun CRT 3-chip DLP 1990 1995 2000 Widespread projector use User-friendly intallation models Higher-value models 2007 2008 Portable projectors Installation projectors 1

#2 Permanent-Installation : ALS The reason why end users are expressing the need for permanent-installation projectors is that new models offer the following advantages over mobile projectors. Less hassle before the presentation The preparation steps shown below are not required. Setting up the projector and screen An extension cord for the power outlet Zoom and focus adjustments Connecting cables to projector terminals During the presentation Less annoyance for the audience Lower fan noise because the projector can be placed farther from the audience Hot-air exhaust does not reach the audience Ideal Conditions for Permanent-Installation Projectors Quick finishing up after the presentation The operating steps shown below are not required. Disconnecting terminals Waiting for the fan to stop Packing the equipment into bags Returning the equipment to its original location Security Less possibility of theft A projector that is specially designed for ceiling mounting should be selected for ceiling use. The projector should be easy to maintain. The projector should have no placement restrictions (with an appropriate lens and wireless connection). The projector should have full interface and control compatibility (allowing direct use with existing cables and systems). The projector should require little or no construction work for installation. 2

F200 Series: Introductory Models Designed for Permanent Installation : ALS The entry-level market for permanent-installation projectors strongly demands easy installation and brightness of 3,000 lumens or higher. Portable models (like the LB Series) were previously being used for permanent installation, but the introduction of the F200 Series, which is designed specifically for permanent installation, more precisely meets the needs of this market. /Market Needs Introductory installation use Small/medium-sized classrooms and meeting rooms Screen size: 100 to 120 (diagonal) Easy installation Brightness of 3,000 lumens or more Indoor mobile use and desktop use Small/medium-sized classrooms and meeting rooms Screen size: 80 to 100 (diagonal) Ease of use Universal design (UD) Outdoor mobile use and desktop use Small/medium-sized classrooms and meeting rooms Screen size: 60 to 80 (diagonal) Compact and lightweight design Quick response Toughness Products Series PT-LB Series PT-P1SD 3

Bringing a Projector to Every Room : ALS The Series was developed by Panasonic as an original-concept series that responds to market requests for permanent-installation projectors with a simple, easy-to-use design. Based on the concept of "one projector per room," Panasonic set out to create projectors that satisfy the following conditions: Minimal time and effort required for installation Very little need for maintenance Easy enough for anybody to use For example, we developed the Auto Rolling Filter (), which minimizes brightness degradation by keeping the air inside the cabinet clean. This allows the projector to maintain its high brightness for a longer period of time. We also sought a new, futuristic form of permanent-installation projectors by adding a 2x zoom lens and easy-to-use wireless/wired LAN function for greater flexibility in installation. Because of these and other features, we truly feel that the Series should be on the top of your list when recommending a permanent-installation projector to your customers. 4

Major Features The Advanced Features Behind This No. 1 Recommendation : ALS Click the item for a more detailed description. Auto Rolling Filter () and anti-dust design Panasonic s original lamp drive system for optimal lamp performance and a 5,000-hour * lamp replacement cycle enhances detail, depth, brightness and contrast Easy wireless projection with multiple PC connection Mac compatibility of the supplied H/V lens shift and 2x zoom for flexible installation Simple installation on a shelf : Web browser control/monitoring, e-mail message alert PJLink compatibility Easy lamp replacement from the rear Abundant connection terminals Easy-to-use remote control with laser pointer F200NT F200 * The value given above is a maximum value calculated for a typical use of turning the lamp on for 3.5 hours then off for 0.5 hour. If the lamp is turned on and off more frequently, or if it is left on for longer periods of time, the lamp replacement cycle will be shorter. 5

for Dealers and Contractors : ALS 2x zoom and lens shift help eliminate unnecessary additional work RS-232C emulation simplifies replacement of older Panasonic models Long-lasting brightness with and the new lamp drive system Original, easy-to-use software is included. Minimal cost and time to install In both new installations and replacements, the procedure is highly efficient. No wasted cost or effort. Great sales opportunity You can look forward to higher rate of success in sales contracts because you can meet the needs of more customers. Less possibility of customer complaints or problems Because brightness is maintained longer, there will be fewer complaints or problem calls to deal with. There should also be fewer calls about wireless connection problems because set-up steps have been reduced and simplified so the wireless functions can be used by anyone. 6

The F200 Series Meets the Needs of Both First-Time Uses and Replacements : ALS It's effective to tailor the points emphasizing F200 Series advantages to the user, depending on whether the projector is a newly added device or a replacement for a previous one. In any case, dealers and contractors will be able to appeal strongly with F200 advantages to either type of customers. For customers installing their first projectors 1. Wide-screen projection and wireless connection New standards: Wide-screen PC and IEEE 802.11b/g 2. Low-cost installation Simple shelf-type installation Less risks for dealers 3. Auto Rolling Filter () Keeps the Air Inside the Projector Clean : ALS The, which is a highefficiency electrostatic filter with superior dust-collecting performance, combines with Panasonic's original Auto Rolling Filter and anti-dust design to minimize brightness loss due to dust accumulation. unit The Auto Rolling Filter automatically winds the used section into the casing and exposes a fresh section of filter. This allows peak performance to be maintained. The winding operation is repeated at preset time intervals and whenever a sensor detects clogging. unit Air intake on the side 9

A High-Efficiency Electrostatic Filter : ALS The in the air intake section uses a, a high-efficiency electrostatic filter, to trap dust particles that are 1 micron or larger. By capturing approximately seven times as much dust as our previous filters, it guards against optical blocks and reduces the penetration of dust into the interior to provide stable operation by preventing drops in brightness. The ET-RFF100 replacement filter unit is available as an optional item.
