MS All-State Choir 2015-16 Test/study information The All-State Choruses are highly select groups of choral students from Florida's junior high, middle and senior high schools who are brought together for the purposes of rehearsing and performing selected music with guest conductors. There are three rigorous tests that students have to succeed on in order to go to All-State: 1. Written Musician Exam (Sept. 19) which is a test on basic theory knowledge such as note values, listening, and music vocabulary. If you pass this test, you move on to 2. Sight-Singing Exam (Sept. 19) which is a test where you must sight-read as many measures as possible out of 24 measures. If you pass this test, you move on to 3. Singing Audition (Oct. 17) which tests your knowledge of your All-State music and vocal tone/technique. After all the tests are completed, students are given an over-all composite score and the highest scoring students in the State will receive a ticket to perform in the elite All-State Chorus. The purpose of this packet is to give you a head start on preparing for this test. We have included everything you need to know in order to gain the knowledge needed to succeed on this test! Students who begin studying during summer do better on the tests.
