Dear Guild Members, February 18, 2018 The 100th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein s birth seems the appropriate time for the Guild to visit the Glimmerglass Festival, Cooperstown with West Side Story being one of the offerings. Our subscription covers the entire schedule for this cultural and social experience about music, theater, opera and an exploration of Cooperstown region. The Guild style is to add a few extra moments at local art venues, restaurants, historic sites, etc. We are offering a complete program for 5 days and 4 nights, arriving Thursday, August 16, and departing at noon on Monday, August 20. We will see four performances, hear novelist Margaret Atwood talk about her work and attend a new Glimmerglass venture, led by world famous baritone Thomas Hampson. We are making it easy to travel from our area by air (at your expense) and then providing coach transportation from/to Albany International airport and all the venues. And we offer two hotels at two different rates and styles. Costs are divided into three payments, and invoices will be sent by email message at the appropriate times: Ø A deposit of $700 per person, described in this itinerary, is due by March 2. Ø A second payment for performance tickets is due by March 23. Ø Final payment for hotels and transportation is due June 2. We hope to fill both hotels and make a difference to the success of the Glimmerglass Festival. And remember that a $200 per person donation goes to Washington Concert Opera.
