Ericsson RX800 Advanced Modular Receiver Broadcasters need to deploy receivers for many different tasks in many different operational circumstances. Ericsson s RX800 receiver offers ultimate operational flexibility by providing capability for decoding of all video formats and total connectivity for all transmission mediums via a comprehensive choice of options. Each individual RX800 unit can be easily configured and tailored to the user s precise needs. This means an optimal balance of functionality and cost can be achieved, resulting in a unit with all the required features without the additional expense of superfluous connectivity or functionality. The RX800 offers a vast and sophisticated array of configuration possibilities allowing it to cover a broad range of applications. The RX800 can be tailored to standard definition or high definition uses with MPEG- or MPEG- decode technology in both ::0 and :: modes as well as JPEG 000 decode capability. Connectivity into the receiver is achieved with satellite, IP, ATM and ASI options. PRODUCT OVERVIEW Total Connectivity The RX800 Advanced Modular Receiver offers the user total connectivity through the capability to provide satellite, IP and ASI transport stream inputs, all within a single unit. With this flexibility the user is confident that their initial receiver investment is capable of adapting to a fast changing industry. Best Efficiency The RX800 Advanced Modular Receiver offers ultimate bandwidth efficiency for satellite transmissions by incorporating the option for the new DVB-S Extensions (DVB-SX) standard. DVB-SX offers up to 0% bit rate efficiency for typical video applications, which when combined with MPEG- transmission means RX800, as part of an Ericsson end-to-end Contribution or Distribution system can offer more channels or better quality video or less bandwidth occupancy than any other competing solution. Multi-format Decoding As a true multi-format decoder, the RX800 can offer MPEG- AVC ::0 High Definition decoding allowing broadcasters to reap the benefits from the 50% bit rate savings compared to MPEG-; and with more and more contribution feeds also making a similar move from MPEG- to MPEG- AVC in the :: world the RX800 also meets those needs. CONDITIONAL ACCESS OPTIONS The RX800 Advanced Modular Receiver supports many types of widely used conditional access systems to allow for secure transmission of content. By default the RX800 is fitted with the capability to accept a Conditional Access Modules and comes pre-enabled for all frequently used single service CA systems.
